3 Killer Beauty Looks L.A. Girls Are Obsessed With

What happens when you gather a team of forward-thinking Hollywood artists, an L.A. It girl, an R29 editor, and a photographer with a vision at Refinery29's new L.A. offices? Aside from a lot of joking and snacking, you get a rad beauty how-to inspired by the looks our coolest residents wear on the reg. But what's even better? The styles are dissected in speedy tutorials that break them down to their core, so anyone can pull them off in under 30 minutes.
Whether you're trying to mix it up for yet another summer wedding or you just want a new routine that will take you from the couch to a party-bound Uber in a flash, we have you covered. But first, let's meet the crew.
Hairstylist John D. took a break from his star clients (including Amy Adams, Drew Barrymore, and the ladies of Haim), and makeup artist Jo Baker cleared time in her schedule (usually spent prepping A-listers like Salma Hayek, Natalie Portman, and Emmy Rossum for the red carpet) for our shoot. Our model came in the form of Taj Alwan, an L.A. fashion publicist at The dFM, which knows a thing or two about what's what in our city.
And as for Alwan's digits? Michelle Saunders, the red carpet nail artist behind Lady Gaga's, Taylor Schilling's, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's impeccable manicures, took a less-is-more approach and selected a creamy beige, Essie's Picked Perfect, to carry us through the shoot. "An opaque nude nail is on trend and goes with everything," she says.
Ahead, three must-copy looks that will take you from same-old to L.A. It girl in under a half hour each.
