Socialites Hit The Street At Rachel Roy

As much as we love being inspired by the splashy, colorful, nymph-meets-alien looks backstage at Fashion Week (seriously, these makeup artists are geniuses), once in awhile, we like to see runway makeup that's as wearable as it is innovative. Hence, we loved the glowy-chic makeup looks at the Rachel Roy spring '13 presentation, created by none other than Bobbi Brown herself. Inspired by the pretty-yet-edgy vibe of the collection, Brown went for a beachy look that was more sophisticated than surfer.

After prepping skin with Hydrating Face Cream, Brown applied her Bronzing Powder in Antigua for a sun-kissed flush. On the eyes, Brown applied Sunlit Nude Sheer Color Cheek Tint (which will be a part of her spring '13 collection) for a hint of color and accented the corners and crease with Metallic Shadow in Burnt Sugar. To add a flirty polish, lots of Extreme Party Mascara was applied to the lashes, and lips were slicked with Sheer Lip Color in Nude Beige (also new for spring). The result: a Maldives-baked socialite, fresh off the flight and attending a soirée at the Frick. In other words: perfection.

Celeb stylist Ted Gibson was similarly inspired by the uptown-downtown look of Roy's collection: "I pictured this girl as an artist, bold yet soft at the same time and thought a pony would be the perfect look." Gibson started by prepping hair with his own Build It Blow Drying Agent spray and blowing it out to a straight finish, following with a flat iron for gloss. Next, he created a ponytail right at the center of the back of the head to keep the look current: "The position of the ponytail is important because if it's too low, then it ends up being very sophisticated and a little old. If it's too high, then it ends up being too cheerleader, so if you go in between, it makes it something a little special and not too contrived." To finish, Gibson wrapped a piece of hair around the ponytail's base to hide the elastic, and pulled on the hair on the top of the head to create an imperfect finish.

For the nails, Essie nail pros went with BBF Boy Best Friend (a nude-ish mauve) on nails, and created an opaque, creamy coral (a big trend for 2013) on toes by applying one coat of Blanc, followed by two coats of Canyon Coral. We'd say this perfectly gorgeous girl is totally the one you'd love to hate, no?
