Are you into the whole "you can only wear current season" thing?
“I have pieces that are seasonless, but I do tend to invest in coats for the coming winter season. I used to try to have a new coat for the season. There are the classic and timeless pieces, and then there are the things to get you back on trend.”
Describe your style in your own words.
“My style is tailored, not fussy. A great top, a great jacket, great heels — I like clean, tailored pieces. I tend to build outfits around shoes. When you have a great pair of shoes, you just work upwards. But still, the only thing that anyone notices are the shoes anyway. Just work around the shoes.”
With these new collections, what are you looking for as an individual, not just as an editor?
“Over the next four weeks, I’m looking for what’s inspiring the designers, what shapes they’re putting out, what they’re investing in for the next season. Already I’m seeing wet, shiny leathers, a lot of suiting. Personally, I watch the catwalk and you decide what I like, what I want. Professionally, you’re thinking about how to build a story for the magazine that will reflect the key trends coming out of the shows.”
