How many years have you been styling and how did you get into it?
"I have been working as fashion editor for 15 years. My first magazine job was assisting Mary Alice Stephenson at Marie Claire. I started as her intern. We worked and traveled non-stop — L.A. every month. Mongolia with Heidi Klum, Tanzania, Wisconsin with lumberjacks, racetracks with Patrick Demarchelier. Lots of adventures. It was great training."
What’s been one of your most memorable jobs?
"An haute couture story Steven Meisel shot for Italian Vogue with Linda Evangelista. I was assisting Lori Goldstein. It was during Linda’s come back when she turned 40. Linda wore enormous wooden clogs by Dior by Galliano the entire shoot, with like four hats strapped to her head at the same time. Kabuki makeup. White-painted face. Pat McGrath had piles of books of Kabuki makeup, and a small army of Japanese assistants mixing small pots of powder for her all day. It was when she was developing her line for Armani. She played 'Murder on the Dance Floor,' over and over. The story was 40 pages long. Two days. Oh, and that was exactly when Meisel and his crew started to use two very important words: 1. Major. 2. Amazing. The rest is history."
