The most exciting part about Thanksgiving, usually, is reuniting with family and friends to share laughs and a hearty meal, and revel in the kind of nostalgia that's practically ripped from a Norman Rockwell painting.
However, there comes at time, after all is said and fed, when familial conversation is replaced with a glowing blue screen, silence, and a few giggles here and there. The Internet — more specifically YouTube — becomes an honorary member of your tribe: delivering the punchlines when the family has fallen into a tryptophan coma and can't be bothered to make jokes.
The Internet is also a handy tool for drowning out yet another retelling of Aunt Jill's one time getting down at Studio 54 with some artist from Chelsea. ("Oh, it was the life, dear!") It's what you show and how you show it that really counts. You want the material to be cheeky but appropriate, hilarious without being offensive — tastefully offensive, if you will.
Now, because of the gagillion videos being uploaded to the platform every day, you can imagine how cumbersome finding just the right clip to debut to your family can become. You've got a diverse set of ages and tastes to take into account, after all.
Ahead, 15 videos you'd be proud to show off to mom, pops, grandma, and grandpa — rated for your sharing precaution. Happy Thanksgiving!
