Wowza! Facebook Officially Hits The 1-Billion-User Mark

Despite his penchant for wearing the same thing every day and you know, that whole IPO hiccup, it seems Mark Zuckerberg’s stream of success is hardly slowing down. Yep, the Facebook CEO has another reason to raise a glass, as the Menlo Park-based social-networking company recently hit a gigantic milestone: the 1-billion-user mark. Wowza, that’s a whole lot of likes! Naturally, Zuckerberg announced the news in a status update today. While he is unsure who exactly the billionth user was, he confirmed that Facebook is over the moon after reaching the achievement on September 14.
"Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life," Zuckerberg wrote.

Oh, and here’s a fun little factoid — this would mean one in seven people in the world are on Facebook. So, let’s just say, Facebook isn’t on its way to join the ranks of MySpace any time soon. What big-time goal is next? A trillion? More? We’ll just have to wait and what the tech giant has in store. (NY Times)
