We Wouldn't Mind Playing Third Wheel In This Crazy-Stylish Friendship

It's a fact: Athena Calderone is a curator of all things gorgeous. Her breathtaking home decor, delicious recipes, and eye for style inspired her to create EyeSwoon, a hub for home and food inspiration. Now, It Girl Calderone will be taking us to New York's need-to-know spots and introducing us to the coolest people around.
After indulging our taste buds with killer guacamole, Jennifer Fisher invited me to check out her showroom. One foot inside those deliciously snakeskin clad walls and I became a fashion-jewel-crazed freak. Being inside that space is a serious practice of self-restraint; I found myself thinking ‘I want it ALL!" and the mantra ‘I NEED it now’ kept repeating in my head. Luckily, Jennifer was ready to indulge me in some dress up and we dove into the fantasy world together!
Jennifer’s jewelry is truly stunning whether worn on its own, or layered — there is no one-way to wear her creations, which means every woman can express her own personal style. Like a kid in a candy store, I started piling on the pieces, mounds of bracelets and rings, gravitating towards the more delicate pieces like a thin pavé diamond ring, that stretched across three fingers. The real magic began as I watched Jennifer start layering pieces to create a look that was both edgy and gracefully refined. The JF line offers it all — from pure luxury like rose-gold skull rings oozing decadent diamonds, to a killer brass line that is crazy hot, accessible and coveted by all! Not to mention her classic customizable dog-tags & charms, which can be worn together as an expression of all that you love — from your children to a significant milestone that deserves recognition.
After playing with her jewels, I was dying to snoop a peek at Jennifer’s desk. As expected it was a true extension of the creative force that is Jennifer Fisher! A perfectly curated mix of fashion, iconic photography, patterns, architecture and family — the mélange that inspires her amazing work! As I was admiring her creative space a weird sense of déjà vu overtook me, since entering the room I had had the feeling I’d been there before, and then it hit me: This was the same space where I had interned for my first design firm many years earlier! Another crazy connection!
All day Jennifer and I laughed, playing with funky glasses and getting into silly shenanigans. We hold the same values when it comes to family, cooking and design making us natural inspirations to each other! I am so proud to call this woman a dear friend — she is the real deal. My favorite piece in the collection is a gold cuff which spells out in diamonds “I LOVE MY LIFE.” Indeed, Jennifer!

Athena Calderone: How did it all start?
Jennifer Fisher: "It's not such a long story. I was told I would not be able to carry a child after undergoing chemotherapy. After surrogacy failed twice I ended up getting pregnant naturally and carrying my son, Shane, myself. When he was born there was no piece of jewelry being sold that combined by desire of family representation and fashion. I sourced by own dog tag and had it made myself. The rest is history. It was a complete accident. I was a stylist working in LA and NY at the time all of this started."
What is your design process like?
"Tons of scribbles on paper actually. Never all at once and never on one theme. I don't get being driven by one mood for the season. My desk tells how my design process is not one dimensional. I love drawing inspiration from text and font as well as people and textures."
Tell me about the transition from work to home.
"It is the same person. My life is a daily combination of both worlds."
What is the first thing you do when you get home?
"The jewelry on my arms and hands come off immediately if wearing heavier pieces and I'm cooking. Some of the smaller pieces I will wear constantly when in the rotation."
What is something people would be shocked to learn about you?
"Clowns scare the sh*t out of me."
Music currently in rotation?
"Always a mix of hip-hop, reggae, and R&B. Have to keep it mellow in the office."
What are some of your go-to local spots?
"Cafe Gitane, Hampton Chutney, Juice Press, Jack's Wife."
What could you not live without?
"My two children, my husband, my best friends and good food."
What is your biggest source of inspiration?
What are some Jennifer Fisher best sellers?
"Charm necklaces is what we are known for and is the core. Also, dainty fine multi finger rings and the gypsy finger bracelets."
What is your fave piece of JF Jewelry?
"My charm necklace that I wear daily. It is my life and my talisman."
What is next on the horizon?
"Just you wait girl..."
