New York band Villa Vina is all about a heavy bass and some seriously awesome riffs, mixed in with a few quiet, moody moments for contrast. Four dudes doin' metal as it should be done. Villa Vina at Glasslands.

Puppeteer Erin Orr collabs with composer/musician Rima Fand to "perform" Don Cristobal, a portrait of a Spanish marionette that stands up against comedic violence. Hmm. Don Cristobal at HERE Arts Center.

A Parisian schoolteachers finds herself in the midst of a mid-life crisis and attempts to turn her whole situation around by becoming a real, published author. To help find her voice, she heads to the graveyard to speak to her dead father. Interesting story ensues. Two Lives Plus One at Film Society of Lincoln Center.
