Grab Your Day-Glo Gear For This 5K Electrifying Run

EDM beats pulse and lights flash. Is it a rave? No — it’s the Electric Run — a 5K run/walk that weaves through a glowing wonderland! Designed to keep runners energized and excited 'til the end, this is just about the wackiest race you've ever heard of, and we have a feeling this photo doesn't even do justice.

Starlet Vanessa Hudgens will be leading runners (all ages are welcome) through the nighttime course, which will feature light art installations created by artists from Dreamworks, Disney, and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (did you guys see this year's giant snail?!). A section of the route called Neffmau5 Land will bump Deadmau5 as a nod to the DJ’s collab with SoCal snow and skate brand, Neff Headwear, while Charissa Saverio, a.k.a. DJ Rap, will rock the ones and twos as the neon-clad crowd crosses the finish line. If you simply have to see the magic in action to believe it (and we don't blame you!), be sure to register here soon. A portion of proceeds from the run will benefit Smile Train, a nonprofit that provides cleft lip surgery in developing countries. Yeah, you can bet the philanthropic music fest set is already planning their glowing race attire.
When: Friday, May 24, 8:20 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Home Depot Center, 18400 South Avalon Boulevard (near East 184th Street); 801-707-0778.
