An EDM Playlist That Won't Induce A Headache

From Coachella, where the massive Sahara tent has come to overshadow the fest's indie rockers, to "European-style" clubs popping up in the once guitar-friendly neighborhood of Williamsburg, electronic music has never been bigger. Seeming to coincide with dance music's rise to global dominance, DJs appear to have started a worldwide competition as to who can make the the biggest, brashest, most attention-grabbing composition. Artists with metal-inspired synths in 2007 (we're looking at you, Justice) have been blasted away — almost literally — by Skrillex's almighty bass wubs and Swedish House Mafia's see-it-from-orbit lightshow.
Yet, along with everyone infusing mid-level wobbles in each of his or her songs, there are, and have always been, musicians making headier, more patient dance tracks. We've gathered 20 of our recent (and semi-recent) favorites to share with you. There's nothing wrong with dropping the bass when you need to, but if you're in the mood for something a little less intense, we think these will do nicely.
