As R29 staffers, we spend a serious amount of time glued to our MacBooks, iPhones, and even the occasional glossy. And, because our eyes are mega strained by the time we clock out, it's imperative that we invest in specs that are practical and posh. So, when another spot for perusing peepers opens up in Lala, we're instantly intrigued — add in the fact that most of the merch can't be found anywhere else in SoCal, and we're swooning.
Enter: Dr. York Optical. The brand-spanking-new shop from José Castellanos and his wife, Elena Orestano, brings some of the best independent eyewear brands to our sunny city. The indie labels include Whiteout & Glare, Res Rei, Oscar Magnuson, and many more. Plus, the pair have a lofty collection of rare vintage finds including '50s Ray-Bans, Persols from the '60s, and even a few sunnies from YSL in the '70s. Whether you're in the market for a new set, or looking to scope some rad interiors (the space has a sick art-installation vibe) head on over and prepare yourself for a fresh perspective on fancy frames!
