Tell us about some of these cool knick-knacks on and around your area. Any funny or memorable stories behind them?
"I have my pens and brushes in a stellar pot thrown by my painter friend, Paul Wackers. The black letterboard on the back wall spells out a famous Williams Carlos Williams poem. I ran out of plastic letters, but decided to leave it be. The day this was shot, I had drawn a portrait of Chet from the movie Weird Science. It just felt so right.

What do you think are the most important elements when building a balanced workspace?
"I think my workspace — with random drawings, prints, notes, and kid toys — is an accurate reflection of me. I like remembering that there's more to my life than just work and Bill Paxton."
