Melita Toscan Du Plantier is so enamored with Morocco that she considers her job as the director of The Marrakech International Film
Festival more passion than work. Effortlessly elegant, she loves fashion and fashion loves her — she even has a Louboutin shoe named after
her (the Melita Pump)!
What is your definition of beauty?
"For me, the most beautiful thing is nature. The nature and tradition in each country is more beautiful than the new things. Beauty for me is also the beauty of people. Someone's soul and generosity — that's beauty."
How would you describe your style?
"I love clothes. I love fashion. I missed out on it when I was young because I come from a very poor family, immigrated from Serbia. Now I am so lucky to know all of these designers- some are very close friends of mine like Chrisitan Loubouton and Karl Lagerfeld. When I'm at the festival I feel like Cinderella — to be able to wear Haute Couture dresses at night and beautiful shoes. Sometimes I get changed three times a day and I love it. I'm very lucky. I'm lucky to be able to have and wear all these things. But I'll tell you something — when I come back from Marrakech, for a few days I don't wear heels and I'm in my jeans and my jumper. I just want to
relax a little bit. It's nice also to be able to not care about it and relax — but still in style!"
