As much as we look forward to the next spectacle of a celebrity fragrance launch (hi Gaga!), at the end of the day, all we really want is to smell alluring, fresh, and unique without rubbing the equivalent of a voodoo potion on our skin. Is that really so much to ask?
As if they could sense our celeb-perfume-induced cynicism, chic Japanese fashion house Comme des Garçons has launched a brand-new eau de parfum that actually manages to smell as sexy as its minimalist-chic bottle suggests.
With its notes of ivy, palm leaf, gunpowder (yes, gunpowder!), and smoke, this unisex scent is managing to make us believe, once again, that a fragrance can be innovative without being, well ... weird. We sprayed it on, and we instantly felt tougher, in a very Lou Doillon, masculin/feminin way (hey, it doesn't translate to "Like the Boys" for nothing).
Smelling like "an expensive hooker" (or like Snooki)? Um ... not so much. Smelling like gunpowder? Now that's hot.
