Lipstick (Not Gloss) We'll Wear This Spring

Any girl living in the Windy City knows that a slick, gooey gloss can spell trouble. One strong breeze and half of your perfect hairstyle will be shellacked to your mouth. Not cute. A simple, statement-making solution to this age-old problem is lipstick — in every spring shade you're dying to try. What other product adds as much instant polish and pop as your favorite hue? With spring (hopefully) approaching, it's time to toss darker shades in favor of spring brights like poppy, coral, and fuchsia. We've got seven luscious lippies waiting for you to peruse, and most are so budget-friendly you can grab as many as you like. So, leave the stickiness of gloss behind this spring, and wear something colorful, comfortable, and totally in season.

Oprah's Favorite Beauty Products From Her Favorite Things Shows

Lest you've been ensconced under a rock (without a working wifi signal), you probably know about Oprah's last show today. Though we might not agree with her on all her beauty and fashion choices, we do appreciate her earnestness when recommending products, especially during her hour-long-tantric-fever giveaway show, Oprah's Favorite Things. From keratin products created by her own hairstylist to a common drugstore mascara, click to check out what Oprah's lauded throughout the years. (Bella Sugar)

Spring's Best Advice From The Beauty Girl

According to The Beauty Girl, beauty shouldn't be a bitch—and we agree. Nicole Pearl, a.k.a. The Beauty Girl, is an expert on all things beauty, and one of our fave hometown heroes. Her resume is flawless, including gigs at Us Weekly and Marie Claire. R29 spent some time with this busy lady and snagged totally easy ways to upgrade our beauty routine this spring.

Our makeup bag is overstuffed. What can we clear out?
"Plummy red lipstick. Trade it in for a cherry red gloss that's softer and brighter for spring." The Beauty Girl also calls us out on a cardinal cosmetic rule: "We're supposed to get rid of mascara every three months, because it can be a breeding ground for bacteria."...busted. "You'll notice that after about three months it tends to dry out anyway."

We're seeing tons of new products for spring. A little guidance, please?
Start with sunblock. "Both Aveeno and Neutrogena just launched sunblock formulas that can be applied to wet skin, I'll switch off between the two." For nails, The Beauty Girl took a cue from spring runways: "I'll be wearing MAC nail lacquer in Frost Soiree. It's an amazing rose gold shade that takes peachy nude nails up a notch."

Ok, spill it. What is the one must-have product for Chicago ladies?
"Never leave home without Aquaphor or Vaseline...they have a million uses: soothe chapped lips, moisturize brittle nails, add a glisten to cheekbones, the list goes on." Excuse us while we run to the drugstore.

Where can we find your favorite beauty services?
"My favorites rotate as quickly as a teen crush, but here's a few that make the list."
1) Get a haircut from Pascal at Delle Amiche Salon.
2) Try a color service from Elizabeth at Luxe Salon.
3) Enjoy a massage at The Trump Hotel (The Spa at Trump).
4) Get your brows shaped at Exhale Spa.

Smoky Eye Looks We're Dying To Try

It just wouldn't be Fashion Week without the ubiquitous smoky eye. And this time around, the runway staple seemed to pop up at show after show, with makeup artists whipping up looks that ranged from grungy to glam. And why not? The smoky eye is the best option for getting that mesmerizing, smoldering look—but its biggest draw just might be its variability: The smoky eye can be kept night-shift-dark and edgy or softened up using lighter, less severe shades. Here are three fresh and doable yet still sexy retellings of the smoky eye to try now.

Winged Victory—Somewhere between the cat eye and smoky eye, we find Tom Pecheux's look for Derek Lam's fall 2011 collection. Using two new Estee Lauder silver and black shadows, he first winged the black smokey eye shadow out toward the temples, then applied a metallic grey shadow on the center of the lid for a silver foil finish and paired the look with a nude, matte lip.
