Boyne Mountain
Although this resort may be a bit of a hike (northern Michigan, to be exact), the picturesque lodging and serious slopes will be worth the extra time in the car. Boyne Mountain boasts everything from 59 downhill trails, a 700-foot Superpipe for the boarders, and even ziplining and snowshoeing for the slightly less slopes-inclined. Plus, the lodging here is more than deluxe. We suggest rounding up a group of friends and renting one of the ski-in, ski-out mountainside cabins. You'll feel like you're holed up in a far-away chateau, without that obnoxious plane fare.
