Chicago is often referred to as a cultural melting pot — and our restaurant scene is no exception. When considering what to eat for dinner tonight, we suggest you take your $15 and head on over to Chicago Public Media's 5th Annual Chef Battle Royale, taking place at the super-cool Salvage One.
Five restaurants from ethnically diverse Chicago neighborhoods will compete to create the best dish of the evening — and you're the judge! While there are no rules, restaurants will be utilizing one of Goose Island’s beers and fresh ingredients from Whole Foods Market. Participating eateries include:
Borinquen Restaurant in Humboldt Park: authentic Puerto Rican cuisine specializing in jibaritos.

Munch in Oak Park: vegetarian, gluten-free fare.
Phở Xe Tăng (Tank Noodle Restaurant) in Uptown: Vietnamese/Chinese noodle shop featuring phở and banh mi sandwiches.
Ras Dashen Ethiopian Restaurant in Edgewater: traditional, home-cooked comfort food from the Semien mountains of northern Ethiopia.
Staropolska Polish Restaurant in Logan Square: authentic Polish fare — pierogi alert!
Though it's not a part of the competition, dessert will consist of Goose Island Root beer and Matilda Beer Floats made by Black Dog Gelato. Not bad for a Wednesday night!

Where: Salvage One,

When: Tonight: Wednesday, October 24, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Tickets: $15 ($10 for students); available online.
