Stella, Cara, And Alexa Win Big At The British Fashion Awards

There's something just a little more fun about the British Fashion Awards. Maybe its because the UK equivalent of the CFDA has a "red carpet" category, or the unstuffy approach to the awards (Lily Cole rushed through her speech for fear she might "wee herself"), or the simple fact that, every year, Brit designers just bring it. But looking over the winners of tonight's awards, the entire event sounds like an awful lot of fun, from big winner Stella McCartney to rising star Erdem.
Both McCartney and Cara Delevingne — who won model of the year — proved that having a famous pedigree might help, but nothing beats hard work and major, incomparable talent. Other winners included: emerging talent nabs for Sophie Hulme in accessories; J.W. Anderson for ready-to-wear (we could have told you that); Jonathan Saunders for menswear; Roksanda Ilincic took the red carpet accolade; Nicholas Kirkwood won for best accessories designer; Erdem Moralioglu took home the "new establishment" prize; Professor Louise Wilson won the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator; for men, Kim Jones won for Louis Vuitton, and Manolo Blahnik was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion. Oh, and even though she lives in New York, Alexa Chung scooped up the British Style Vodafone award...third year in a row. Well, of course. (WWD)
