Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? It's a magic bullet that makes you healthier, smarter, and thinner — or so we’ve been told. According to our friends over at The Huffington Post, two new studies in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicate that breakfast isn’t quite the miracle meal we've come to expect. The first trial, out of the University of Alabama’s Nutrition Obesity Research Center, studied overweight and obese participants who were attempting to lose weight; researchers found that eating vs. skipping breakfast had no influence on weight-loss success.

The second trial, conducted at the University of Bath in the U.K., found that neither eating breakfast nor abstaining from it affected the resting metabolism of the participants, all of whom were of normal weight. But, hang on — before you ditch those a.m. eggs or oatmeal, there are still some compelling reasons to eat in the morning. Click through for the truth behind breakfast. (The Huffington Post)
