Countdown to Coachella: The Best Of The Bottom-Line Bands

Isn’t it fairly obvious by now how absolutely amped we are for the colossal music fête, Coachella, kicking off in, like — a few hours! In fact, the wait is practically killing us over here. We are approaching the 11th hour peeps, and want to make sure you are geared up (better to be over-prepped than under!) for the best fest in the west. Now, you’ve probably already mapped out all the big-name bands you want to catch, but what about the other just-as-rad, smaller acts? You know, the ones you practically have to squint to read on the poster?
Well, don't worry! We’ve whipped out our magnifying glass, and scoured over the bottom line to bring you five of the best, lesser-known (but just-as-awesome) groups that are poised to be the breakout stars of the season. If you're a well-versed music maven, you're probably already spinning these tunes. If not, we're here to tell you why you should.

Givers — "Up Up Up"
This indie-rock band adds a little spice from their hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana in order to create some of the most infectious, upbeat tunes on the charts. Mixing bopping Afro-beats, twinkling keys, and dueling vocals from Tiffany Lamson and Taylor Guarisco, Givers will sway fans of Vampire Weekend and Dirty Projectors. Catching the band perform "Up, Up, Up" would be a perfect way to start your weekend on a happy note.
Honeyhoney — "Turn That Finger Around"

You may have caught this Venice-based band playing gigs around town, but for those of you who haven't, Honeyhoney is one to watch. Equal parts jazz, alternative, country, and pop, this band has the catchy melodies and vintage-esque sound that could catapult them into the same stratosphere as Mumford & Sons or The Avett Brothers. Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe, who make up Honeyhoney, will perform their swamp blues-meets-flowy folk on Friday.

Housse de Racket — "Chateau"
If you feel like getting your dance on early in the day, make a pit-stop at Housse de Racket's set. The duo of Pierre Leroux and Victor le Masne has carefully crafted its own, unique version of Parisian pop. As former studio musicians for Air and Phoenix, these guys know a thing or two about putting together foot-tapping, dance-friendly beats. Plus, you don't need to brush up on your French to enjoy atmospheric tunes like "Chateau."

Le Butcherettes — "Henry Don't Got Love"
This Mexican garage-punk band garnered lots of buzz opening for The Dead Weather and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, back home. Now, they want to bring their raucous brand of fem-rock across the border and onto Indio's grounds. Their latest album, Sin Sin Sin, was produced by The Mars Volta's Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and packs a heavy punch of rock. Be sure to hold on tightly to your sunglasses if you stop by, ‘cause Le Butcherettes's amped-up guitar riffs and pounding vocals are sure to make the crowd a little rowdy.
Keep Shelly In Athens — "Our Own Dream"
Not much is known about the electronic duo Keep Shelly In Athens, except that its brand of dreamy, shimmering pop has earned itself a spot on a lot of much-watch lists for Coachella. With smooth, dreamy vocals from Sarah P. and slick synths from RPR, the band has just enough talent and mystery to leave us pretty intrigued. Keep Shelly In Athens' sensual style is being called "melancholy disco" and will be swirling off the stage on Saturday. See you there?
