Borrowed From the Boys: Men’s Shoes Made Just For Ladies

Boys will be boys. But from time to time, girls might also want to be one of the guys. One of our favorite street-style photographers, Garance Dor&eacute, pointed out recently the influx of menswear on ladies—in everything, that is, except for shoes. But we get the dilemma: Belt your boyfriend's cardigan or slouchy jeans all you want, yet tottering around in shoes a few sizes too big isn't really an option. So if you're going to tread, we suggest you do it in your own pair of shoes. Fortunately, British Vogue cued us in to the revolution afoot: Guys' shoes especially made just for girls. From brogues to oxfords by style stalwarts and up-and-comers like Generic Man, here's how to embark (walk or run) on a gender bender.

Oliver Sweeney
David Beckham is a fan of Sweeney's take on the classic oxford lace up. And while we doubt Posh Spice would set foot in a flat, the idea of ladies in be-spokish brogues is very Victor-Victoria. (Above, top left)
Esquivel
With its cult following among the Robb Report set, it's no wonder women wanted a cut. Ask and ye shall receive. Word is the hand-crafted oxfords are worth the substantial price tag. (Above, bottom left and right)
Generic Man
We love Generic Man for its classic meets cool aesthetic. And now tomboys everywhere can take off their 2-ply socks and slip on a pair made just for them. The offerings for the fairer sex are in step with the line's simple streamlined look, but just a wee more feminine. (Above, top right)
