Perfect Skin In A (Cheap!) Tube

Certain beauty products — think NARS blush in Orgasm, Clinique's Black Honey lipstick — are so good, they're practically famous. And, while we do love so many of those well-known, well-loved products with a loyal following, we've been wondering why others have been quietly flying under the radar. With that in mind, meet our new beauty series, Cult Classics, in which we'll introduce you to the products you really, truly should know about (and try, like, right now). They're not brand new, but trust us: They've got staying power.
So, by now you probably know this as one of the official rules of skin care: Regular exfoliation is key for a smooth, healthy visage. The only problem? It's easy to choose the wrong product or overdo it on the scrubbing, which will only leave your skin more inflamed, irritated, and possibly flaky. No bueno.
Thankfully, the humble at-home scrub has come a long, long way from the overly scratchy particles of yore. The most elegant iteration of the drugstore scrub so far? This fancy-sounding Age Defense Microdermabrasion Polish from Boots Botanics, which is helping our stressed-out skin through the dreaded transition into winter.
We're in love with this scrub because it's super-refined yet completely easy to use. You can simply bust it out in the shower, or at the sink, and gently rub it over your skin to quickly and thoroughly remove dead skin cells. The texture of this polish is extremely fine, but don't think that that means the scrub is more gentle than other exfoliators. Quite the contrary. This scrub is so abrasive that you actually feel it working, which means it's effective, but you have to be very careful not to overscrub.
It's literally that simple — scrub it on once or twice a week (no more, since the stuff is that strong), rinse off, and enjoy your totally brightened and refreshed complexion. Bonus: Any moisturizer that you follow up with (we recommend a mixture of face cream and oil in cold weather) will be absorbed that much better. Medicine cabinet MVP? Found.
Boots Botanics Age Defense Microdermabrasion Polish, $11.04, available at Target.
