The Perfect Outfit To Wear All Indian Summer Long

While most people have been painfully parting with summer these past few weeks, here in the Bay Area, we kissed it good-bye in a hurry and eagerly opened up our arms to fall (a.k.a. our real warm-weather season). And by the looks of things, October is already packing the heat — literally. So, to celebrate the arrival of our Indian Summer and say adios to the fog-induced blues, we’re presenting you with one picture-perfect outfit that’s an ideal option for the hot-to-cold hand Mother Nature often deals us.
Whose duds are we copying this time around? That'd be girl-crush-worthy blogger Annabel Ly of Blushing Ambition, whose cool printed frock, topped with a casual army jacket, and utilitarian booties is all over our fall wish list. For a getup that's easy and oh-so autumn in S.F., we suggest you mimic this hot ‘fit, stat.

Essential #1: Army Jacket — This khaki wonder is a timeless staple, so you can't really go wrong tossing it over any outfit. Plus, here in S.F. we'll get good use out of it all year long — especially when the 4 p.m. fog blankets the city. And, when layered over a wild print, the dark-green masculine color balances out the potentially dizzying pattern. We’re loving the deep front pockets and zipper compartments for easy gadget access.
Topshop Petite Khaki Army Jacket, $96, available at Topshop.
Essential #2: Ikat Shirt Dress — Slip into this versatile frock that acts as the statement-making base of Ly's casual-cool look. With its endless adaptability, the pretty number could easily stand alone once the sun eventually peeks out. Stretch the look throughout the seasons by adding a pair of opaque tights underneath, voilà, you're golden!
Wren Ikat Shirt Dress, $158, available at Les Nouvelles.
Essential #3: Lace-Up Booties — Go anywhere in style after stepping into these bad boys that this S.F. lady models so adorably. The relatively low stacked heel and padded insole make the highest hills still sanely manageable. We'll take 'em!
Gap Lace-Up Booties, $79.95, available at Gap.
Essential #4: Oversized Sunglasses — Whether worn on top of your head on cloudy days or used as UV protectors, these oversized sunnies will be looked upon as stylish must-haves. This version will work for just about any face shape, too.
Karen Walker Eyewear Super Duper Strength Sunglasses, $250, available at La Garçonne.
Essential #5: Colorblock Clutch — For those who don’t like to be too overtly trendy, this pint-sized colorblocked clutch fits the bill — and your stuff! While not Ly's exact matching piece, we think this seafoam green and navy colored version compliments the rest of the shades just right.
J.Crew Invitation Clutch In Colorblock, $158, available at J.Crew.
