How To Disguise Gym Clothes As Normal Clothes

One look at the recent Fashion Month street-style snaps, and there's no denying that athletic garb still reigns supreme. From old-school sneakers bringing tomboy 'tude to femme skirts, to conspicuous logos adorning everything in between, it's like Sporty Spice is the style set's new spirit animal. But, there is a difference between the high-performance items you'd wear to a boot-camp class and the athletic-inspired styles you'd don to dinner with friends — or is there?

With sports bras getting strappier (a far cry from their high school P.E. class predecessors), sneakers getting funkier (in practically every color and pattern under the sun), and cover-up pieces getting sleeker (masking their true sweat-wicking functionality with a fashionable facade), you can now easily transition your gym duds into an all-day ensemble with the addition of just a few key styles.

So, we curated six workout outfits for six kick-ass (literally) fitness classes in Chicago using pieces from lululemon — all of which are as apt for getting your sweat on as they are for hitting the town. And, because there's no better way to reward hard work than with a cold drink and some grub, we did the extra legwork and found a hot spot near each of the studios to sport your exercise ensemble's street-friendly version. Now, this is the kind of cool-down we can get behind.

Surfset At Moirai Health & Fitness
All the benefits of surfing minus the risk of wiping out. This class will help strengthen your core and push your flexibility, while challenging you to keep your balance on a stationary-but-wobbly board — it's harder than it looks! Kick off your slides when you arrive (this class is done barefoot), and get ready to paddle it out. This breathable, sweat-wicking bra will keep you dry while you catch waves.

    Breakfast At LYFE Kitchen
There’s not much we don’t love about this River North eatery. We’ve tried nearly everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed by the savory, hearty, nutrient-packed dishes. Throw a sleek, black jumpsuit over your sports bra for an on-trend look, and then complete it with a cozy green parka, leopard clutch, neutral booties, and, if you're in a hurry, a black baseball cap to mask unruly post-gym tresses (this one features a moisture-absorbing interior sweatband). You'll have people wondering if you even went to work out at all.

Cardio & Strength Training at Shred415
This high-intensity class alternates between running and strength training in 5-, 10-, and 15-minute intervals. The goals? Improving endurance and, as the name aptly suggests, "shredding": sculpting a firmer, stronger physique. Let a slip-free sweatband hold your flyaway strands in place. And, opt for a loose tank with cutouts, so you can catch a breeze from a fan and stay cool as your heart rate skyrockets.

Brunch At Old Town Pour House
Swap the workout capris for a casual-cool pair of harem sweatpants, and keep the tank in play under a floral bomber jacket. Then, toss your gear into a messenger bag before heading to Old Town Pour House for brunch. With nearly 100 beers on tap, it’s hard to resist ordering a brew-focused cocktail like the Beerlini (a sweet and refreshing blend of Scaldis Pêche Mel'-infused peach purée and Voveti Prosecco). But, we recommend splurging on the Churchill Bloody Mary. The house-made bloody mix is poured over Stoli Hot vodka and served with a Chesapeake Bay-seasoned rim plus a skewer loaded with a peppercorn steak medallion, Pepper Jack cheese, and cherry tomatoes. It's like a salad but in delicious drink form.

Personal Training At On Your Mark
Expect a hardcore workout using just free weights, medicine balls, and lines painted on the floor. (Yes, you’ll be running between them — a lot.) This custom training session is tailored to your fitness goals, and you’ll leave with that exhausted-yet-exhilarated high. Save the infinity scarf for pre- and post-workout, and get down to business in breathable basics: running tights, a sports bra, tank, and sneaks.
