The (Other) Editor: Angela Tafoya, San Francisco Editor at Refinery29

What exactly do you do all day?
"I usually wake up around 6:30 or 7:00 a.m., make some coffee, and then head downstairs to start the day. I work from home, so the ‘commute’ (a.k.a walking down a flight of stairs) is pretty amazing. My days definitely vary, but writing and editing most of the posts on the site, keeping a keen eye on local news and happenings, scouting and researching talent, attending photo shoots and events, managing my weekly edit calendar, and overseeing an amazing group of interns and freelancers is what goes down on most days."

How did you get to where you are today?
"Okay, I'm about to get cheesy. But, when I was about 12 I remember looking at the cover lines on a magazine and thinking: ‘Wow, the person who writes these has the coolest job!’ From that moment on I knew I wanted to work in publishing. I studied journalism in college and interned at places like Flaunt Magazine, 944, Angeleno, and The Style Network. I started freelancing during college and shortly after graduation took a position at Sugar Inc., freelanced more, and then was lucky enough to find myself with a full-time position as the West Coast Editorial Assistant of Refinery29, then as the S.F. Editor!"

What would you consider your big "break"?
"I think I am still developing and growing as a professional. Plus, not sure the big break theory is so black and white. I am just so excited to be where I am now and every day I find myself truly loving what I do — to me, that is a pretty big break."
