Shiny, low-volume roots — as seen on the runways at Alexander Wang, Lanvin, and Chloé — are a blessing for fine-haired ladies, who don't want to worry about trying to fake mega-volume in their tresses in order to be au courant. For girls with thick locks, take a cue from Julianne Moore's look, here. Blow out your hair straight, then use a flat iron (choose one with a beveled edge so you can get right at the root) to straighten. Sweep hair all to one side, then use pins to press the hair on the opposite side flat against your head.
