"Detail-oriented" looks good on any resume, but for the Polo Lounge and Sunset Marquis it’s a cornerstone for success. Both locations are heralded for exceptional atmosphere, booze, and attitude — but for very different reasons. If celeb-spotting is your game, then these two haunts offer very different selections. The Polo Lounge, tucked into the 100-year-old Beverly Hills Hotel, is ideal when you want to bask in an Old Hollywood-style klieg light. The Marquis, on the other hand, is where the Billboard chart-toppers (anyone from Dave Matthews to Iggy Pop) go to kick it incognito. Tucked away from tourists, this rooted-in-rock hotel is a safe haven for edgy superstars and those who prefer their spirits served with some discretion. And, even if celeb-centric clientele isn't your thing, the dark décor and camoflaged location are worth the coin alone. Throw back a “Billyburg” (whiskey and pickle juice) at Bar 1200 and watch the musicians (rock ‘n’) roll in.
