Okay, so I'm not necessarily rubbing two pennies together, but here’s the situation: My husband and I are in the throes of building our very first house. It’s exciting, it’s stressful, and it’s expensive. In light of the new home build, I put myself on a voluntary shopping ban. Because when you’ve got a beautiful walk-in closet, Roman-style bathtub, and essentially, a new HQ for The Glossarie (complete with bay windows), not much else seems to matter.

But, I allowed myself one final hurrah with the cash in my wallet before the ban took hold. Here’s what I chose to purchase with my last, crisp $10 bill.

For less than $3, this little balm packs serious color. The pink hue is bright, leaning towards neon, with a glossy texture that glides on smoothly. It brightens up my entire face. Who needs $20 lipstick? This is the beauty equivalent of a statement necklace.

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm in Strike a Rose, $2.99, available at Target.

I wanted to pick up a color that I would wear all holiday season, and this sparkly blue-green gem was it. Color choice aside, this polish is a great investment because application is a breeze and it wears like steel. I’ve also become accustomed to its gorgeous gel-like high-shine finish.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Mermaid's Tale, $6.49, available at Target.

This stuff is worth its weight in gold, not to mention its $1 price tag! For one, it works miracles on every corner of my face. From erasing dark circles to covering breakouts and pesky sunspots, this concealer is proof you don't have to spend a ton of money for great coverage.

E.L.F. Tone Correcting Concealer, $1, available at Target.
