There are two beauty products I'm never without: a bright-colored lipstick and liquid liner. Just like how I use my bookshelves for shoes, you'll find tubes of lipstick and liner everywhere: in my jacket pockets, my desk drawers, and every one of my bags — it's my subconscious way of making sure that they're always in reach just in case I want to touch up my bold lip or winged tip.
But lately, I've been experimenting with some lighter fare for summer by swapping my lipstick for balm and my day-to-day winged liner for eyeshadow. Toning down my makeup for the new season not only cuts down on my morning routine, it helps prevent the smudging/melting situation that comes with higher temps.
So, I've come up with this light, simple look that has become my new go-to for a NYC summer — and it only requires three products: cream shadow, eyeshadow, and mascara. The defining element that'll make your eyes pop is mascara. Using the right mascara can help open up your eyes and create a show-stopping look without the makeup meltdown. See how I do it, ahead.
