Go Bold Or Go Home: 3 Ways To Style Bright Lips This Spring

comments

If I'm ever asked what my favorite beauty accessory is, it would have to be lipstick. I can't remember when my addiction began, but this love affair has been going on for quite some time. Wearing bold, bright lipstick for me is so normal that when I'm not wearing any, I don't feel like myself. I know this sounds really intense, but that’s how much love I have for a bold, bright lip.

You can probably guess that I have tubes upon tubes of lipstick piled in my makeup cabinets. I also strategically leave a tube in every one of my purses — just in case I run out the door without one.

I have always been drawn to the bubblegum pinks and red-oranges, but also love a deep wine-stained lip. When I commit to these colors, I'm in it for the long haul, so I have to make sure they stay on me, and not on my coffee cup. The key: Long-wear lip colors and a good lip primer.

Never forget the lip primer, because it will help your lipstick from feathering — one of my most valuable lessons when wearing bold lips. Matte lipsticks tend to have more staying power than ones that are on the creamier side. I recently tried out Revlon ColorStay™ Ultimate Suede Lipstick and loved its suede matte finish. If you follow these tips, your color will stay on, trust. When I go out to eat with friends, I’m usually the only one left at the table who still has her lipstick on. It’s totally possible, people. And, to give you some extra help in the lip department, here are three ways I accessorize when wearing a bold lip.

Accessory #1: Athletic-fit caps. I'm loving ASOS hats, like the one I have on here. I like the play of a bold lip with the leather texture of the hat. It’s a nice mix of lady meets tough girl. Here, I'm wearing Revlon ColorStay™ Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Backstage.

Accessory #2: Glasses. I love wearing my Warby Parker Tenleys, but sometimes I feel like my eyes are hiding behind them. Since I usually keep my eye makeup more minimal, a bold lip is a great way to add a hint of drama. I decided to wear a playful pink shade by Revlon ColorStay™ Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Muse, which really pops against the army green jacket.

Accessory #3: Jewelry. Nothing goes better with bold lips than jewels — and lots of them. Pile on stacks of gold baubles for a fun way to dress up an orangey lip this spring. For a perfect peachy kisser, try Revlon ColorStay™ Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Flashing Lights, which I'm wearing here.
