Match Your Makeup To Your Clothes — Yes, It's A Thing

Opener-Slide
Going monochromatic with your clothes isn't news, but matching it with your makeup look might be going a tad overboard, right? Wrong.
I've always loved wearing similar hues together whether it comes to a monochromatic face or dressing in white from neck to toe. And now, the colors I'm obsessed with for my fall wardrobe really lend themselves to be worn well as my makeup colors of choice, too. Matching your makeup to your clothes can be as easy as picking your favorite color of the moment and going wild. To get you started, here are three of the season's standout hues and how I'm wearing them in my beauty routine.

If I could pick just one color to ring in the holiday season, it'd be silver. This metallic color gives a sheen that evinces instant glamour.

Nails: For me, metallic silver nails doubles as a neutral and still makes for a glam manicure that goes with everything. I also love the wide-angle brush of this polish that makes painting my nails a quick task.
Eyes: The ultimate in silver is in the foil. This eyeshadow pretty much blows my mind for a few reasons. It creates an amazing texture on your lids and it's also buildable so that you can be as glitzy as you feel that day. It's the perfect complement to an LBD or laid-back denim look that needs a bit of sparkle. To add just a strip of silver, opt for this liquid liner by Urban Decay. It makes any makeup look mod.
Revlon Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel in Magnetize, $7.99, available at Revlon; Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Comex Platinum, $32, available at Stila; Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Glamrock, $19, available at Sephora.
When it comes to fall dressing, I can usually be found sporting blue in some way, shape, or form. I mean, can we talk about how many pairs of skinny blue jeans I have? To go with all the denim, I find that navy blue makeup makes for a chic pairing.

Nails: I love to wear dark nails in the winter, so this blue is right up my alley. The polish has a metallic finish that gives a subtle festive touch for the holidays and keeps my nails from breaking — two key reasons why this baby is at the top of my holiday wish list.
Eyes: Cobalt blue for eye makeup has been a major trend this season, and there are so many ways to wear it, but I like to go all out with a deep-blue smoky eye, courtesy of Bobbi Brown's Metallic Eye Shadow in Midnight. And, when I'm feeling a little sassy, I throw on a colored mascara — with just one swipe of this vibrant blue wand, my eyes are an instant hit.
Revlon Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel in Beguile, $7.99, available at Revlon; Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash in Dark Blue, $23, available at Sephora; Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow in Midnight, $22, available at Sephora.
When I'm in a mood to lay low, but still want to take part in the pretty jewel hues of the season, I go for a camp palette. To go monochromatic with my look, the color range of green provides a plethora of choices from bright emeralds to the more muted hues of olive.

Nails: The perfect olive polish from Revlon, hands down. With a touch of shimmer, I love how this green is still low-key. I like wearing my gold rings and bracelets with this green polish. They're a match made in color-complementing heaven.
Eyes: I love cream shadows because they help me skip the lid-primer step and save time while adding a sick color to my lids. This olive color by NARS is great because it's an almost golden olive green and has a little bit of a metallic feel. To layer on the greens, use a dark emerald green liner, such as this one by Bobbi Brown. It gives me the intense definition that I want, but the green shimmer drops a pleasant surprise to my everyday makeup routine.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, $23, available at Sephora; Revlon Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel in Enthrall, $7.99, available at Revlon; NARS Eye Paint in Mozambique, $25, available at Nordstrom.
