White nails have been a major trend all summer, but in true procrastinator form, I just got my first crisp, white mani of the season a few weeks ago...and I loved it! But, of course, in a matter of weeks, people will ditch their alabaster polish for some vampire hues fit for fall. So, before that time comes, we've still got a few glorious weeks of summer to revamp those whites with these three fresh twists. Try them before the cold comes!
Zoya Nail Polish in Purity, $8, available at Zoya.Try a dramatic shape
Long, oval nails are daring, but they don’t seem as over-the-top when they’re painted in a clean, stark shade. If you’re still feeling chicken (or you can’t get away with talons at work), go for a shorter length with slightly pointy tips.
Essie Sleek Stick Nail Appliques in Love To Love You, $10.25, available at Essie.Add an accent nail
I love getting my ring fingernails done in a different color than the rest of my nails — it adds an interesting contrast. A chic design looks amazing, too. If you’re DIY-ing, stick a patterned nail applique onto one nail on each hand, then polish the rest in all white.
Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Special Effect Textured Nail Color in Sugar Fix, $5.99, available at Drugstore.com.Play with texture
Gritty, grainy, glittery: Textured polish is having a moment, so why not combine two trends and do a white manicure with an eye-catching finish? Done and done.
