Call me a beauty rebel, but I’m doing everything a bit backwards this summer. I’ve spent most of the season wearing loud, full-coverage lipsticks and tons of mascara, and now that fall is fast approaching (gulp), I’m gravitating toward subtler makeup looks.
You know, barely there lip colors and blushes that practically disappear when you blend ‘em. But, the genius thing about sheer products is that they’re not just great when it’s hot as all get-out. They transition nicely into leather-jacket weather because you can pair them with more dramatic statements, like neutral shadow plus matte, plum lips. Or, you can save low-key shades and textures for weekends when you want to put something on your face, but don’t want to look overdone. I’m also into sheer nail lacquer right now — it’s like a chicer version of the see-through polish my sisters and I played with when were kids (minus the chunks of glitter).
