I’ve been on board with the whole beauty oils thing from the get-go, but I understand why some women still shy away from willingly slathering on oil when we spend so much effort taking it off. Oil gets a bad rap as the villain that causes acne and a shiny T-zone. But it seems brands are determined to win over the oil-phobic, because three different companies just launched new oils for the face.
And they’re good
Whether you’re already a believer or on the fence, these three face oils can remedy any skin problem you've got. Ahead, these products will conquer your fear of oils for good.
I’m not a fan of perfectly matte skin, so I like that this oil gives me a faint sheen, kind of like a subtle dewiness. It’s a good option if you have dry skin that’s lost its luster, or for days when your face looks a little blah. It’s light enough to layer a moisturizer on top, but after using just a few drops, my complexion feels soft.
L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil, $24.99, available in July at Walgreens.
The gentle formula breaks down my makeup quickly without requiring 57 rinses. And you know that tight, uncomfortable feeling you get from other face washes? This stuff doesn’t strip. Give it a try if sudsy cleansers leave your face parched.
Murad Renewing Cleansing Oil for face, eyes and lips, $32, available at Murad.
The first thing that hooked me about this oil is its fantastic scent. It smells sweet, but not overpowering enough to annoy. I’m also giving the product points for the way it sinks into the skin. I swear, it disappears within a minute or two. Over time, the oil promises to tighten, smooth, and even out complexion, but for now I’m enjoying its silky effect.
Kate Somerville Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment, $65, available in July at Kate Somerville.
