Need A Costume? 3 Hauntingly Beautiful Ideas From The Runway

Halloween is right around the corner. If you haven't bought your overpriced, slutty fill-in-the-blank costume yet, then might I suggest something of the more DIY nature? My favorite costumes are the ones that are inspired by the runway. Just 'cause you're going for a scary look, doesn't mean you can't be beautiful at the same time, right? Here are three of my favorite runway looks that'll crown you with the office's best costume this year.

ICB by Prabal Gurung's '90s Raver Girl
At ICB by Prabal Gurung, makeup artist Yadim looked to the rave scene of the '90s for beauty inspiration. The results were a stunning holographic glitter party.
Step one: Apply a BB Cream like Dr Jart + Water Surge to give your skin coverage with a dewy finish.
Step two: Wet a Q-tip, then dip it in a jar of loose silver glitter. Gently press the glitter on the inner corners of your eyes. Keep it concentrated for a more striking look.
Step three: Apply a center streak of Butter London glitter polish on a few nails and top it off with a piece of foil.
Step four: Keep your lips neutral and apply a coating of EOS lip balm to balance the look.
Eos Smooth Sphere Lip Balm, $3.29, available at Eos; Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Sure Gel, $38, available at Sephora; Butter London Nail Lacquer in Indigo Punk, $15, available at Butter London; Make Up For Ever Glitter, $15, available at Sephora.

Gareth Pugh’s Scorched Socialite
At Gareth Pugh, Alex Box created a look inspired by women fleeing a burning castle. The makeup was gorgeous and tragic — perfect Halloween material.
Step one: Apply MAC Strobe Cream on your eyelids as a base for a frosty blue undertone.
Step two: Combine MAC Camel Coat and MAC Soot and apply them to the corners of your mouth and between your lips for an ashy look.
Step three: Smudge a muted purple shadow on the crease of your upper lids and below your bottom lashline. This will make them look hollowed.
Step four: Dust a dark plum blush along your cheekbones as a contour.
Stila Eye Shadow Pans in Compact, $18, available at Stila; MAC Eyeshadow, $18, available at MAC; MAC Strobe Cream, $32, available at MAC; MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Carmel Coat, $20, available at MAC.

Mugler's '60s Girl
At Mugler, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury looked to '60s star Tippi Hedren for inspiration. The look makes for a stunning retro-inspired Halloween.
Step one: Apply your regular foundation and set it with a very light dusting of translucent powder.
Step two: Using a dark eyebrow pencil, like one by Kevyn Aucoin, color in your brow. The key to this look is a dramatic bushy brow, so don't be shy.
Step three: Apply MAC Camel Coat to your eyelids.
Step four: Using a black liquid eyeliner, draw a black line hugging your upper lashline.
Step five: Dab on MAC Lipglass to your eyelid with the pad of your finger. Start from the area above your eyeliner.
Step six: Dust your cheeks with an apricot blush by Koh Gen Do.
Step seven: Apply a matte coral lipstick like NARS Peloponnese to finish the look.
NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Peloponnese, $26, available at NARS; Koh Gen Do Fresh Face Cheek Color in Apricot Peach, $41, available Barneys New York; MAC Tinted Lipglass, $15, available at MAC; Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil, $26, available at Nordstrom.
