Missoni, Ferragamo, & Others Design Eco-Friendly Decor — That Gives Back

When it comes to home design, luxury and eco-friendly can be two concepts that merge a bit like oil and water — sometimes, they just don't get along too well. But we were pleasantly surprised after seeing new furniture collaboration The Barrique Project, which features wood-crafted pieces made from repurposed European wine barrels, all designed by 30 world-renowned architects and some of fashion's most notable names, including Angela Missoni and Chiara Ferragamo.
Given the original material of these pieces and their inventive design, it's easy to see them at home in either a luxe cabana with all-white everything or an oceanfront bungalow amidst flourishing plant life and overgrown tree fans. But, for those less tropical-bound, the chic porch swing and rustic wine-cart benches are perfect patio additions for those cool summer nights.
And to make things even better, proceeds from these limited-edition items support San Patrignano, a rehabilitation center in Europe that helps young adults get back on their feet. You can catch the pieces as they make their way to the States in May during NY Design Week, but click along for our favorite few now. We may or may not have our eyes on those bongo drums...
