Bare Escentuals Gets Real With A Blind Casting Call For Their Fall Ad Campaign

Apparently, the big news-making move for beauty brands is to layoff the Photoshop and retouching and use accessible women instead of highly paid models. Case in point: Bare Escentuals new fall campaign, "Be a Force of Beauty." The brand chose to feature women picked from a blind casting call, narrowing it down to five final women based on answers from questionnaires and interviews. Founder and executive chairman, Leslie Blodgett said in an interview with the
New York Times
that the ads are retouching- and airbrush-free (minus a little color correction) an admitted she was apprehensive about the outcome, saying, "What if all five of them were blonde, blue-eyed and 30?” Interestingly, the casting call started with 300 models and actresses and was reduced to five final women through in-depth, one-on-one blind interviews. But really, when you start off with a pool of models and actress, how bad could the results be? Check out the casting video and, love it or hate it, let us know what you think below.
