This Is Our Jam: Autre Ne Veut, “Play By Play”

When we last heard from Arthur Ashin (a.k.a. experimental R&B artist Autre Ne Veut), it was with the excellent "Counting," a track with a huge chorus that showed Ashin is capable of incredible pop fireworks.

Amazingly, his second single from the upcoming Anxiety, "Play By Play," is even more impressive. Over the course of the song's five and half minutes, Ashin puts everything he has into each bruising line, that is until the simple refrain ("I just called you up for the play by play") shoots ecstatically skyward. To put it simply, the last two minutes of "Play By Play" sound downright triumphant.
