Peace Out Fogust! 5 Events To End The Season Off Right

main
If there’s any way to cure a case of the end-of-summer blues, it’s going out with a major bang. And sure, shortened Fridays will become ancient history (pouring out a little liquor for them), but we think this list of intriguing events is where the term "happy ending" is best applied. From a rare musical lineup that has us acting like ecstatic fan girls to a dose of winery escapades, our roundup is the farewell icing on this bittersweet cake.

Almanac Anniversary Party

We love a good hump-day hoedown to get us through the week, and Almanac’s one-year anniversary party is sure to please. The event kicks off the release of the California Table Beer Series featuring golden-y goodness in the form of extra pale ale and honey saison brews, along with other pint specials and beer cocktails — which are sure to pair perfectly with bites from Deli Board and 1058 Hoagie. And if leaving with a full belly and a buzz isn’t cool enough, the first 100 guests also walk away with custom Almanac pint glasses.

When: Wednesday, August 29, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Bloodhound, 1145 Folsom street (between 7th and 8th streets); 415-863-2840.

Fiat Lux Snakeskin Kaleidoscope Trunk Show

As the seasons change, so do our wardrobes, but snakeskin prints seemingly stand the test of time. And as eager as we are to gravitate toward traditional black and brown scales, Fiat Lux is showcasing the reptile’s skin in a rare, exotic multitude of shades that has us utterly hypnotized. Head out to this Friday’s trunk show where jeweler HartVariations will be laying out its rainbow-clad snakeskin bips and bops. Trust, missing this event is sure to bring on a major hissy-fit.

When: Friday, August 31, 5 to 10 p.m.

Where: Fiat Lux, 218 Church Street (at Market Street); 415-321-8413.

We’re certainly down! Learn how to snatch your tickets below and hit the road!

Refused and Sleigh Bells Show

We often find ourselves perusing the rosters at some of the Bay’s hottest venues, but no show has us losing our cool quite like this event going down at Fox Theatre. When: Friday, August 31, 8 p.m.

Where: Fox Theatre, 1807 Telegraph Avenue (between 18th and 19th streets), Oakland; 510-302-2250.

First, chef Taylr Behnam will teach food and wine pairing wisdom that can be applied to the mouth-watering lunch filled with wine, honey, and cheeses harvested in the Four Farmer’s Garden. Then, get suited up in sting-safe veils to get first-hand beekeeping experience with expert Rob Keller. There’s only up to 8 guests per session, so grab your tickets pronto.

When: Sunday, September 2, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
