Greatest Hits

Our favorite looks and trends from New York Fashion Week.

1. Quick Hits of Neon—They were everywhere from straps to skirts, but we like the slouchy satchels best. DKNY (below left), Karen Walker (below right)

2. Unexpected Zippers—Our favorites replaced traditional closures to create long lines with a high-tech effect. Cloak (below), Zero Maria Cornejo (below right)

3. Avant Garde Layering—Piling on unexpected fabrics and shapes felt fresh and personal, not sloppy. Karen Walker

4. Sheer Pants—Those diaphanous fabrics will be omnipresent next spring, but the sheer bottoms seem smart and somehow less obvious. PHI (below left), DDC Lab (below right)

5. The Elegant Trench—Minus the seriousness, it's nice to see the trench take a soft, sexier route. Myself

6. The Bra Top—From bustiers to all-out brassieres peeking through gauzy blouses, the bra is having a moment. The toned-down knit version is flattering and so not trendy. Proenza Schouler

7. The Bodysuit—Or the bathing suit, however you want to look at it. We want it paired with high-waisted anything. Grey Ant

8. Silver—It keeps coming around, and in a modern, pea coat-style jacket, it was beyond cool and surprisingly practical. Marc Jacobs

9. The Crisp White Pant—A nice break from denim for guys; grownup but still fun. 3.1 Phillip Lim (below left), Trovata (below right)

10. The Pocket—But not just any pockets, pockets placed where you might least expect them (but have always wanted them). Mary Ping (below left), Zero Maria Cornejo (below right)

11. Librarian Chic—It's ladylike spun from a parallel universe. We love it (and we love him). Sabyasachi
