Though the eclectic boho spirit of fashion has begun to wane of late, turning to a cleaner, more minimal state of mind, jewelry continues to be a major area of continued experimentation. Los Angeles-based label Alex & Chloe has taken the popular mixed media pendant and remade it once more, infusing it with fresh elements of expression. The designer's pairing of modern acrylic pendants and classic profile silhouettes with gold or silver findings and raw stones captures the evolving aesthetic beautifully. "It actually started with the idea of only taking silhouettes of people and translating them into shadows for necklaces," says the designer, who prefers to anonymously go by the name Alex & Chloe. This collection of necklaces is his first, but he has plans in the works for a line of bags, shoes, and even clothing in the near future, all with the same mission of taking accessories out of the past and into a more contemporary mindset. "I think people, guys and girls, can be much more adventurous when it comes to wearing accessories—they can be at little more fashion-forward and get away with it."
