The first poster for Disney's Maleficent was revealed today, showing a glimpse of Angelina Jolie as the titular character. Jolie peers out from behind a black cape, hair masked by a dramatic horned headdress. Her piercing green eyes, pale skin and vibrant cherry-red lips greatly contrast with the black backdrop, making for one seriously stunning and visually alluring poster.
The film, which will be released in 3-D on May 30, 2014, focuses on the early life of the villain famous for cursing Sleeping Beauty in the 1959 movie and reveals the events that hardened her heart. Maleficent rises to be her forest kingdom's protector, but a ruthless betrayal starts to turn her heart to stone. Intent on revenge, she faces a battle with the invading king’s successor and places a curse on his newborn infant Aurora, played here by Elle Fanning. The trailer comes out tomorrow, so watch this space for more looks at the bewitching Jolie (her first on-screen role in three-and-a-half years, we might add). We're all Disney girls at heart.
