How To Take Care Of Your Skin After Halloween Makeup Wreaks Havoc On It

I don’t know about you, but my Halloween "night" is stretched from Friday to Sunday, and this year it looks like we're adding Tuesday to the mix. Never mind the dilemma of finding four outfits of excellent caliber (why do it if it's lazy, amirite?), it's the toll all this dressing up takes on my face that I neglect to consider. Layers of makeup and sweaty dancing are my skin's worst enemy, but since Halloween is way too fun to skip, I'm preparing my arsenal of masks, serums, and oils to get my complexion back to a healthy state.

Here's a seven-day skin schedule that will get you back to brilliant in no time. (Oh yeah, and drink a lot of water.)

Properly removing all of that makeup might sound obvious, but when's the last time you really went through cotton rounds until they were pure white? Your skin can't heal if it's still trying to fight a bacterial army that you neglected to remove with micellar cleanser. My favorite is this Yes To Cucumbers version, which can be used morning and night.

When I need a crazy-deep cleanse, I'll use two micellar waters. Talk about squeaky clean.

This tried-and-true friend never fails me. One 30-minute session with this mask leaves skin feeling fresh, bright, and new. It's a mainstay in my regular routine, but I diligently use it every day for three days after Hallo-week is over.

A longtime favorite treatment is the Glossier Combo: Galaxy Greens followed by the Moisturizing Moon Mask. A deep cleanse followed by some hydration definitely makes me feel whole again. After using the Tata Harper mask for three days, I'll introduce this duo for one night.

This is a favorite detox mask among beauty editors. It peels off and takes all of deep pore gunk with it, leaving skin smooth and taut.

Sucking dirt and sebum out of your face is a necessary step in rejuvenation, and that's what this deep cleansing clay mask was put on this earth to do. It can get uncomfortably tight at times, but that's how you know it's working, right?

Once my pores are properly and thoroughly cleansed, I can start the regenerative process. This Pai product in particular is a hero oil for cell turnover and serious brightening. Use it at night after cleansing and masking.

This hyaluronic acid-rich moisturizer delivers plenty of hydration and protection to skin after a week of partying, but is light enough that you don't have to wait more than a few seconds to smooth your makeup on top of it on rushed mornings.

It may be chilly and overcast, but we know you know that SPF is a must even on the darkest days.
