This Will Save You So Much Money On Beauty Products — & It's Free

If you're cashing in rewards for your groceries, grande iced lattes, flights home, or even your weekly mani-pedis, we gotta ask: Why aren't you racking up points for the money you spend on beauty products? Beauty loyalty programs — you know, the ones they ask you about every. single. time. they ring up your shampoo and conditioner — actually have some pretty great perks. And they're all free.

Keep reading to find out which companies offer them, the beauty swag and discounts at stake, and whether it's worth it for you to spend a couple extra minutes at the register to join the club(s).

The Club: Sephora Beauty Insider

What You Get: Beauty Insider is the first of Sephora's three-tier rewards systems — this store's not messing around, people. You earn one point for every dollar you spend. 100 points = a free deluxe sample. 500 points = a limited-edition gift set. And the points never expire. You also get a free gift on your birthday; this year, it was a choice between a NARS lip-pencil duo and a Peter Thomas Roth cleanser and mask. (Pretty good, right?)

If you spend $350 or more in one calendar year, you're automatically bumped to VIB status, which, most notably, gets you early access to new products and sales. And if you log $1,000 annually, you become a VIB Rouge member, which gives you bragging rights, invites to exclusive parties, in-store makeup touchups, and — this is really the best part — free shipping.
The Club: CVS ExtraCare Beauty Club

What You Get: CVS takes 10% off your first beauty purchase after you enroll, which is pretty standard. But here's where things get interesting: For every $50 you spend on beauty products, you earn $5 of ExtraBucks Rewards. That's basically free cash you can spend on — wait for it— more beauty products. (You get an additional $3 of ExtraBucks on your birthday, because, duh.)

Beauty Club members are also eligible for "risk-free shopping." That means if you're not a fan of the product you purchased for any reason, you can return it, no questions asked. (Yes, even if you opened it.) Shoppers also get regular coupons and giveaway offers online.
The Club: Sally Beauty Club

What You Get: Technically a yearly membership costs $5, but you immediately receive $5 to spend toward any beauty product so it's basically free. In addition to in-store sales, if you spend $25 in a month, you get 15% off your next purchase. But the best things really come to those who wait: When you renew your membership after a year, you get a free, full-sized product that you can choose out of 500 options.
The Club: Ulta ULTAmate Rewards

What You Get: It's similar to Sephora's program ($1 = 1 point), only instead of earning deluxe samples, you apply the points to the products you're already buying. For example, 100 points saves you $3 on your purchase, and 500 points saves you $17.50 (see the whole breakdown here). If you spend $400 or more within a year, you'll get boosted to platinum status, which earns you 1.25 points per dollar. And you get double the points during your birthday month — score! But there's a catch: The points expire a little after one year.
The Club: Smashbox Pretty Points

What You Get: Members earn five points for every dollar they spend; once you hit 500 points, you get a $10 certificate. But you have to be patient: You don't earn the points until about a month after your product ships.

Members also receive a deluxe free sample if they spend $35 or more, or if they check out at noon on a Tuesday or Thursday (random, but we'll take it). Finally, Smashbox will alert members when it's putting items on final sale, which is when you can really save the big bucks.
The Club: Fresh Family Rewards

What You Get: This rewards program comes in three-parts: Freshie, Fresh Family, and Fresh Forever.

After you enroll for free, and officially a Freshie, you get a welcome gift, a free birthday gift, double the points of any purchase, access to private sales, and free shipping at fresh.com.

Rack up more than 200+ points and you can become part of the Fresh Family Rewards Program, where members receive free hand-picked gifts and special experiences. With more than 500+ points, you join the latter group, earning you invitations to exclusive events and VIP access to new products and priority booking for services.
The Club: Birchbox Loyalty Program

What You Get: Birchbox wants to make sure that you can redeem your loyalty points whenever you want. For every dollar you spend, you earn 1 point. You can rack them up and redeem 100 points for $10, or you can start redeeming after only 10 points.

Even better, if you sign up for Birchbox's monthly subscription, you can earn points even faster. For an additional 50 points, review your first five samples or refer future subscribers.

Don't forget to keep your eye on your account; points expire after six months. But with so many amazing brands on the site, we bet you'll have a tough time holding onto them.
The Club: The Body Shop Love Your Body

What You Get: Like many rewards programs, every dollar you spend earns you one point. After 100 points, you get $10 off. But unlike other programs, The Body Shop also lets members rack up their points and donate the money to a charity instead.

Members also receive information about new collections, invites to exclusive member-only events, and a $10 birthday gift. It's free to join, so why not?
