With all of the hype surrounding
Naked 3-aggeddon, did you ever find yourself wondering why certain beauty products cause such a frenzy among the makeup-loving masses? Sure, you've heard celebs and makeup artists mention YSL's Touche Éclat highlighter and Clinique's Black Honey lipstick again and again, but surely they can't be that good, right?

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar
In case you haven't heard, OCC's Lip Tar has developed an obsessive following that consists of both beauty mavens and pro artists. One of the reasons this product is a surefire hit? According to Luna, it's the out-of-this-world pigment and the fact that it really lasts. Says Luna: "Applied with your fingertip or a lip brush, these lip creams will last through your longest days." Vincent adds that he loves that Lip Tars are multi-use products — he uses them on both lips and cheeks when he wants to create a look that packs major punch. Plus, adds Luna, they're vegan. Three cheers for responsible (and pretty) products!

Lip Tar in Harlot,
Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight
Ever look at a runway model or celeb on the red carpet and wonder just how the heck their skin looks so perfectly lit-from-within? Well, it could be genetics or the pricey green juice they're guzzling, but we'd like to make a different argument: It's probably because they've been generously dusted with this miracle highlighter.
What sets this glowifier apart, according to Turnbow, is its perfectly neutral and subtle shade. Says the pro: "Candlelight is a beautiful color that blends with many skin tones. It can be used to give the face more contour and shape as well." No, this powder isn't cheap, but our pros are convinced that this is one investment that is totally worth it. Seriously — Luna describes it as the perfect shortcut to the "Beyoncé Glow." Um, sign us up!
The Celestial Powder in Candlelight,
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat
Few products get makeup artists (and at-home beauty lovers) more riled up than the great Touche Éclat — a concealer-highlighter hybrid that is almost literally a shortcut to perfect skin. Raves Turnbow: "Touche Éclat is undeniably one of the most essential products to have in your arsenal! It comes in a wide range of shades to blend in with almost all skin tones." Plus, says Turnbow, it's almost impossible to overdo. "It has a nice, light, creamy texture that can be used on its own when less coverage is needed or for extra brightening mixed with a concealer for the times when you need extra help. It pops out shadowy areas and give an overall luminous youthful glow."
Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer
Bronzer can be tricky to get right — so, it's worth it to find the perfect one for you that will add a glow without rendering you orange or like you have patches of dirt on your skin. In our opinion, you can't go wrong with one of Guerlain's eight (!) shades of silky-smooth Terracotta bronzer.
Luna loves this particular primper for its luxe skin-care benefits, as well. Says the artist, "This formula delivers moisture to the skin, which means you don't have to reapply throughout the day." A convincing glow and a happy mug? Yeah, we'd say this puppy is #worthit.
Terracotta Bronzing Powder,
We're going to get right to it: This rose-scented stain may be the product that hooked us into being beauty nerds for life. This old-fashioned, natural-yet-noticeable tint works on almost everyone — and once you get the hang of applying it, it will never let you down.
Besides the fact that it's perfectly lovely on its own, Luna loves to use this multitasking tint as a primer under other lippies. "This rosy elixir is just the queen of lip and cheek stains." We agree — which is why we'll be stocking this sucker 'til the end of time.
Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten
This rosy-nude eyeshadow might be one of the most popular eye shades of all time — and, for James Vincent, this love is personal. Says the artist, "I was part of [Stila creator] Jeanine Lobell's team early on at Stila, so this has been a staple shadow in my kit for years." Any way you apply it, says the pro, this shade is a winner. "I love it all along the lid, or at the inner corner of the eye for a polished and natural look," says Vincent.
Plus, according to Luna, this shade is the perfect soulmate for your brightest, baddest red lipstick — add a bit of mascara for a perfectly polished face.
Eye Shadow in Kitten,
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
Remember when this lipstick was, like, everything back in the day? Well — newsflash — it's still the bee's knees, and it's an essential for creating a naturally pouty look. Says Turnbow: "This is a shade that works on so many women! It gives a nice richness and depth to your natural lip pigment, which is really sexy. It's pretty and sheer enough to use when you have no makeup on or when you want a touch of tint on the lip if you're sporting a smoky eye."
Ideal for makeup mavens and natural gals alike, we promise you won't regret adding this honeyed-wine shade to your makeup bag.
Almost Lipstick in Black Honey,
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Before BB...and CC...and EE (?!), there was: Luminous Silk. For real, there are few models or celebs that haven't had their mugs painted with this lovely luminizing fluid. Explains Vincent, "I love foundation that looks like skin, and Armani has managed to develop a foundation that looks flawless and barely-there, even when giving fuller coverage."
Luna puts it like this: "Glow, baby, glow! This pick leaves skin looking milky and flawless. It's like buttah!" So, listen to the woman — if you've ever feared foundation, this is the base for you.
Dior DiorShow Mascara
If you crave huge, blackest-black lashes, this is the formula for you. Beauty nerds in the know stockpile this stuff for its ability to create faux-looking lashes in just a few swipes. Says Luna, " This is the mascara other mascaras are jealous of. Two coats of this amazing formula will have your eyelashes screaming, 'Selfie!'" Or, should we say, " selfeye?"
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
If, even after our rousing argument for Armani's finest, you're still not on board with full-on foundation, this tint will make you very, very happy. Turnbow explains: "This product is a cult classic because there are so many great shades to suit different skin tones. Plus, it's portable, easy to use, packed with SPF, and it comes in oil-free and luminizing versions."
Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20,
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
We've tried straying from this foolproof curler only to find our lids pinched and our lashes mangled. So, you could say we're pretty loyal — and our pros agree. Luna says: "This is, by far, the BEST lash curler on the market. Its wide base makes sure every single lash gets some curl time."
Adds Vincent: "I am a huge fan of beautifully curled lashes, and the Shu Uemura curler keeps eyes looking open and gorgeous. Designed by Kevyn Aucoin to be gentle and effective, the silicone strip makes them easy to use for even the most inexperienced user." So, dear readers, use your Shu, or...well, ouch.
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Calling all Alexa Chung fans: If you've pursued the Brit It Girl's perfect cat-eye flick only to end up streaked and disheveled, forget what you thought you knew about eyeliner and just get this one.
James Vincent shares our love for this super-inky, easy-to-use gel liner. "Blacktrack is a must-have in my kit," he says. "It allows me to do anything from easy, elegant lines to more dramatic designs. And, it's the most beautiful shade of blue-black." Luna describes it as the fastest way to switch up your look. "With a flick of an angled brush, you go from nice to naughty," she says. Hear, hear!
NARS The Multiple in Maui
NARS' Multiple stick in Maui is another one of those fail-safe, flatters-everyone, makeup-bag workhorses that no modern woman — or pro — should be without. Explains Vincent, "I use this almost every time I do a client's makeup to add a natural color and contour." One of the best parts of using this product? You get to use your fingers — no complicated blending apparatuses needed.
As for this shade in particular, Luna loves that it's "the perfect balance between pink and peach" — it can truly be used all over the face for a glowing, monochromatic look.
The Multiple in Maui,
Urban Decay Naked Palette
And, now, for the product that may have originated the concept of a buying frenzy — Urban Decay's original Naked palette. Our pros agree that this collection of nude shades is beloved for a reason: It makes it easy for almost anyone to create multiple eye looks, from totally natural to deeply smoky. Says Luna, "This 12-color palette allows you to create the most beautiful looks — without having to search through your entire makeup bag."
Naked Eyeshadow Palette,
Bioderma Créaline H20
Okay, so we know that this product technically isn't a makeup product — but, when it's time to take it all off, our pros unanimously agree on the superiority of this gentle French-born makeup remover. Explains Vincent, "Every artist keeps Créaline in their kits — it's gentle and effective for removing even the toughest makeup. It's simply a must-have."
Because, really, what's the point of smearing on all of those lovely cosmetics if you can't get the darn stuff off at the end of the day? This gentle cleansing water will keep your mug in tip-top shape — so you can enjoy painting that pretty face all over again the next day, of course!
Bioderma Créaline H20, $30, available at New London Pharmacy.
