Your Horoscope This Week

Come sail away? Well, you can at least start dreaming about it. This Monday, the new moon in Sagittarius activates worldwide wanderlust. The trouble is, Mercury remains in a signal-scrambling retrograde until Friday, which isn't exactly the best time to book any tickets. Just use the early part of the week to whet your appetite. Scan the travel blogs and survey friends about their most epic vacations. It's not that you can't make a reservation just because Mercury's in reverse; but if you do, opt for hotels that your friends can vouch for and try to pick itineraries that aren't at peak hours, so you don't wind up on an oversold flight. Got something important to reveal? This new moon loosens lips, since Sagittarius is a sign that cannot tell a lie. (Even to its own detriment.) But just because you're feeling emboldened doesn't mean you should start obsessively tweeting. Timing is everything — and trust us, waiting until Mercury corrects course at the week's end can ensure that your message won't get lost in translation.

On Tuesday, taskmaster Saturn switches signs, heading into Capricorn — the sign that rules governments, the economy, and the patriarchy — until December 17, 2020. This will be a much easier Saturn cycle than we've had in years as Capricorn is homebase for the strict planet. Challenges? Bring them on! And let's preserve this planet, please. Capricorn is the eldest of the three earth signs (Taurus and Virgo are the other two) and with Saturn here, conservation of natural resources will be essential. (Farewell, plastic bottles!) Saturn is the lord of karma and the planet of restriction. Will we see more retribution coming for those "men behaving badly?" We're betting so, and not just the egregious villains of the entertainment industry. As the chasm between the "haves and have nots" widens, Saturn's wisdom may help us carve out a more equitable economy or bring the rise of green businesses and renewable energy like wind and solar. But we'll also have some messes to clean up along the way.

Sagittarius
November 22 to December 21

No need to wait until Janaury 1 to pop the cork on that Armand de Brignac. Your astrological New Year arrives on Monday when 2017's only new moon in Sagittarius electrifies the skies. Carve out some time to make wishes, set intentions, and map out personal goals you’d like to achieve in 2018. We don’t have to remind you to dream big, Sagittarius — but make sure you’re wishing for the things you really want, not just the visions that other people have for your happiness. Start a draft and then revisit that list on Friday when Mercury ends a grueling three-week retrograde and resumes forward motion through your sign. Your gift of gab returns with a vengeance — and you don't have to worry about winding up with a sock bootie in your mouth!

In addition to the new moon, you, Sagittarius, have much more to celebrate this week than the average holiday reveler. On Tuesday, tough teacher Saturn exits your sign after an ass-kicking tour that started on December 23, 2014. The last three years have basically been cosmic boot camp for you. And, while you’re stronger, smarter, and faster, you’d really appreciate a little relief from learning everything the hard way. Rejoice in the comfort and joy the cosmos are bringing! For the next three years, Saturn will tour Capricorn and your second house of financial foundations. One word: Monetize! Your mission now is to make some serious bank from all the big lessons you’ve learned since the end of 2014. While you may have some dues left to pay, the path to greater wealth begins now.

Capricorn
December 22 to January 19

On Monday, the new moon in Sagittarius gives your transitional 12th house one last hit for the season. Do a clean sweep of your space, removing all the "so 2017" clutter — which, naturally you will not replace with more disposable crap, right? And, as you look ahead to your sparkling 2018, you may realize that there are a few scary leaps that you have no idea how to take. This new moon shines a light on mentors, coaches, and consultants who can guide you along your path. Therapists, energy workers, and shamans are immensely helpful, too, so don’t rule out your more personal concerns. Reach up for support and you’ll quickly catch your stride! Let "Santa" know that you'd be down for a few private yoga classes or a session with that raw food nutritionist — gifts that will keep on giving.

Now for the major news of the week! On Tuesday, structure-obsessed Saturn — the solar system’s personal trainer and your ruling planet — comes home to Capricorn for three years, priming you for some serious personal growth and achievement. The last time Saturn visited your sign was from the late '80s to the early '90s: Yes, this is a rare “treat” indeed. Suit up, Sea Goat, and get ready for basic training. If you want to win the Saturn game, you must be disciplined, restricting yourself from instant gratification in the name of long-term growth. You’ve got this — if you stick with it.

While this won’t be the easiest chapter of your life, you will start to love it when you see results. Saturn wants to “Upgrade U,” à la Beyoncé. Start with your wardrobe. Forever 21 can be your spirit age, but your closet will require more professional, sophisticated pieces — with the exception of the workout gear you’ll be wearing on a regular basis, too. Don’t worry: Saturn won’t kill you, but it will make you a hell of a lot stronger. You might actually feel excited for this energizing challenge starting Thursday when the sun heads into your sign and kicks off Capricorn season for a month. Happy birthday to you. Celebrate this year by investing in something that helps you grow as a human, like sessions with a coach or a teacher-training retreat.

Aquarius
January 20 to February 18

Your popularity is trending up, thanks to Monday's new moon in Sagittarius and your 11th house of community. Tap the social vibes of the season to explore new scenes and cultural activities in your hometown. Don that entertainment director's hat, too. This new moon makes you "crew glue" for the rest of the month. Organize group hangs, parties, and even a NYE getaway with your squad. Since the 11th house rules technology, you'll feel like updating your digital devices, launching a website or blog, or purchasing new computer hardware as a holiday gift to yourself. But, easy does it! With Mercury in a tech-wrecking retrograde until Friday, make sure any such purchases come with a solid return and exchange policy. Remember: you have six months to manifest these lunar gifts, so if nothing else, just plant some seeds for that app or e-commerce site now — like buying a domain name or sketching out some wireframes. Then sit down with the developers (or that tutorial) in early 2018.

This Tuesday, your co-ruler Saturn decamps to Capricorn and your dreamy, enchanted 12th house until December 17, 2020. Relax, relate, retreat! This three-year cosmic cycle will be far more chill than anything you’ve experienced in a while. You’re so used to chasing the dream that it will be downright disconcerting at times. Now, your directive is to do less — and to learn how to use the law of attraction like a pro. Visualizing what you want is the first step to manifesting it. Here’s the rub: Wanting it is not enough. You must also believe that you can achieve it. Work with coaches, mentors, and therapists if your confidence is at all flagging. But you might also take time off, start a meditation or yoga practice, or channel your latent artistic side. The more relaxed you are, the more receptive (and magnetic) you’ll be for the miracles coming your way. Letting go of the past will be a big theme between now and December 17, 2020. Slowly release and mourn that which no longer serves you. You’ll just make way for something amazing to flow in.

Pisces
February 19 to March 20

Don't slip into a holiday headspace quite yet! Monday’s new moon in Sagittarius and your 10th house of success could bring another feather for your cap. Where do you want to land over the coming six months? Write out a wish list; make a vision board. Word of a new job opportunity could arrive or a chance to ascend the ladder by filling someone else’s moto boots. Jump on it! You’ll be motivated to make a bigger name for yourself in your industry — which might mean investing in a course or a mentoring program. Feeling overloaded by end-of-year tasks? Clear the decks of distracting tasks by delegating, outsourcing, or just calling it quits on unfulfilling projects. Then, concentrate on one major goal that can boost your career game — and your bank balance — by mid 2018.

Teamwork will definitely make your dream work after Tuesday, as big planner Saturn moves into Capricorn and your future-forward 11th house for three years. After three years of hustling to prove your merit in the professional space, your focus shifts a bit. Between now and December 17, 2010, you could get more involved in activism — maybe by creating a socially responsible business for the best of both worlds. Collaborative ventures are the way to win, so get your networking on. A strong social network is the key to success. Just remember that one rotten apple can spoil the barrel. Saturn demands excellence and discernment! When it comes to the projects you’re most passionate about, keep the weak links off your chain.

Aries
March 21 to April 19

Monday’s new moon in Sagittarius awakens your wanderlust. Thought you'd just stay home for the holidays? Yawn...boring! A change of scenery always refreshes your perspective. So, even if you can't island hop for Hanukkah or go on a cruise for Kwanzaa, how about squeezing in some weekend getaways or an overnight or three by the year's end. If nothing else, start planning your next big pilgrimage. La luna could kickstart a cool, entrepreneurial venture, too; or, you could hit on the idea for a media project that you develop over the next six months. This new moon may inspire some Aries to go back to school — or to enroll in teacher training so you can share your storehouse of knowledge. Just wait until the weekend to book anything if you can. On Monday, Mercury ends a signal-jamming, three-week retrograde and gets back on track in your travel zone. Call up your friends in faraway cities. Does someone have a couch you can crash on or an apartment to swap for NYE? Maybe it's time to explore a place you've always dreamed of checking out: Is the music scene in New Orleans more your thing, or is it catching sweet waves and warm sun down under? Decisions, decisions.

New Year’s resolutions on your mind? More like life resolutions, Aries. This Tuesday, success-obsessed Saturn switches signs, moving into Capricorn and your ambitious 10th house until December 17, 2020. This three-year cosmic phase could bring all your hard work to a stunning new milestone. While this won’t happen overnight (Saturn never brings an easy ride to the top), you’ll begin to groom yourself for that executive title or royal status starting now. There will be some tough choices involved and a greater need for support staff. Men will be the star players in your meteoric rise. You may need to polish up your professional image a bit, too. Bring on the stylists, branding experts, and career coaches — and don't stall. From Thursday until January 19, the sun will beam alongside Saturn, which will get your ambition in motion right away.

Taurus
April 20 to May 20

Smooth-talking players and unreliable partners have never really cut it for your traditional sign. And after Monday's Sagittarius new moon in your playing-for-keeps eighth house, they won't stand a chance in the Bull pen. Clear the decks of people whose actions don't match up with their promises — and save your final rose for someone who can go the distance with you. With Mercury snapping out of a three-week retrograde on Monday, your intuitive powers will be working once again. Trust your gut — and do your detective work before casting final judgment. The new moon could bring a promising contender your way or help you uplevel a relationship to something even more serious. But don't kid yourself, Taurus. Chemistry matters. If you've been settling for someone who's cool enough but doesn't light a fire in your loins, do everyone a favor and downgrade to "just friends."

More huge news for the week: On Tuesday, taskmaster Saturn switches signs, heading into Capricorn and your ninth house of travel, education, and entrepreneurial ventures for three whole years. Expect to feel major relief in the love department soon. The last three years have been intense for Bulls and you've probably weathered some serious ups and downs. Now, Saturn puts you to work on self-improvement and global expansion. A few things you might do between now and December 17, 2020: Get more passport stamps through a professional quest, share tips and tricks that got you through by starting a life-hack blog, turn your nutrition obsession into a meal-delivery side-hustle, or go back to school for your PhD. You'll get the first kickstart in this direction on Thursday when the Sun joins Saturn in Capricorn until January 19. Go, Taurus, go!

Gemini
May 21 to June 20

Two's your lucky number on Monday, as the year's only Sagittarius new moon powers up your seventh house of committed relationships. Single? These moonbeams will have suitors lining the path to your doorstep (or your inbox). Coupled Gems could advance to the next logical level together — or at least start discussing that direction. Did someone from your past slip back into your life earlier this month? With your ruling planet Mercury snapping out of retrograde this Monday, you'll know whether to keep 'em around or give them a one-way ticket home. Remember that all connections have their challenges, but also that teaming up with the perfect person could cut your workload in half—and double your fun.

The second biggest news of the week (besides Santa’s forthcoming electric slide down the chimney) is Saturn’s move into Capricorn and your eighth house of intimacy, seduction, and shared resources. For the past two years, the taskmaster planet sat directly opposite your Sun, bringing more than the usual amount of challenges — especially in the partnership department. The heat is off of you now (insert audible sigh) and it’s time to do some sorting. Who do you want in your inner circle — and in your bed — over the next three years? Saturn will tour your eighth house until December 17, 2020, so the people you merge with are bound to stick around. Just make sure you actually want them in your life, up close and personal.

Cancer
June 21 to July 22

On Monday, the new moon in Sagittarius lights up your sixth house of work and well-being. Give your body some love — try popping a probiotic to aid with gut health and keep your immune system in top shape. Got a few office-related boxes to tick before 2017 is through? This new moon brings a surge of motivation to plow through those tasks. Resolve now to put an end to playing the office martyr role in 2018. If you need some support staff or more pay, put in the request early next week or get an early January performance review on the calendar.

Are you ready for a real-deal romantic relationship? This Tuesday, wise and mature Saturn moves into Capricorn for three years, activating your seventh house of commitment. For the coming three years, Saturn challenges you to stay put and work it out with a partner-in-crime. A business collab could get serious, too, so call in the lawyers to draft an official contract. Get ready to find the Dasher to your Dancer; the Vixen to your Cupid — and don’t go dashing off to the North Pole at the first sign of a conflict.

Leo
July 23 to August 22

Monday's new moon in Sagittarius brings a brimming cup of courage — and the motivation to get your name in lights. "Almost famous" isn’t going to cut it for you...not that it ever has, Leo. Over the next six months, what can you do to get your name in bright lights, or at least Twitter-verified? Kim K. wasn’t made in a day, you know: Get to work on your brand and up your social media game. Think virally: The seeds you plant this week could blossom by summer of 2018. Cupid’s in your corner, too, so open your heart and give him a clear shot. A new romantic interest could pop up this weekend or you could add an exclusivity clause to a casual dating situation. Did someone from your past pop back into your life over the past three weeks? With Mercury retrograde since December 3, an old flame may have lit a fire in your heart once again. But are those embers worth stoking? You'll have a clearer idea after Monday, when Mercury corrects course. Not ready to settle down? Get on the dating apps and enjoy the sampler platter until you find your favorite flavor.

Quick, Leo, add this to your holiday wish list: Fabletics leggings, 10-class yoga card, and a KOLD water bottle. This Tuesday, personal trainer planet Saturn changes signs, moving into Capricorn and your sixth house of healthy living until December 17, 2020. With this three-year cycle stretching ahead, you’ll need to take ultra good care of your body. Why not, Lion Grasshopper? If you tap its powers, Saturn will help you stay disciplined and get into a healthy and athletic groove. At work, you’ll have some dues to pay in order to make your next climb. Humble thyself and be of service. Your new game plan is to win over the influencers by being the happy helper. Then, they’ll open doors for you.

Virgo
August 23 to September 22

On Monday, there will be a new moon in Sagittarius and your domestic fourth house, awakening your nesting instincts. If you haven't summoned the season's family-oriented spirit, you certainly will by the weekend. But are there still a few relatives or close friends with whom you want to make amends? Schedule a sit-down to clear the air and hug it out — especially after Monday when Mercury ends a signal-jamming retrograde that has produced lots of friction since December 3. If it’s time to relocate, you could land that lucky listing under these moonbeams or spruce up your dream digs with some items from your wish list. Powerful women pop up, too, and you could meet an amazing female mentor, someone who opens up new worlds of opportunity for you. (Um, who runs the world?)

Are you ready for your close-up, Virgo? Your role as a public figure, performer, or influencer could truly get serious starting Tuesday as hardworking Saturn embarks on a three-year tour through Capricorn and your fifth house of fame, leadership, and romance. Get comfortable just being yourself in the spotlight (channel Virgos Beyoncé or Zendaya for inspiration) until December 17, 2020. Relationships will go through a “maturing phase” with Saturn here. As your tolerance for the players evaporates, you might even settle down with someone a little older or more established. Learning the difference between love and infatuation will be a big lesson for romance-addicted Virgos now. Be patient with the process.

Libra
September 23 to October 22

On Monday, the new moon in Sagittarius awakens your curiosity — and your inner culture vulture. Thought you'd skip attending those cheesy holiday light shows and your neighbors’ kids' school play? Guess again. Reload your December events calendar and embrace your status as the Zodiac's social butterfly. You might even be inspired to explore a new subject of interest or find a hobby that appeals to you. Put those guitar lessons or the glass-blowing workshop on your list for Santa. Kindred spirits flock in and you can merge them with your long-time squad — especially after Friday, when Mercury snaps out of a three-week retrograde. If you've been squabbling with old friends, you d on't have to replace them all. Make amends over the weekend — and if you discover that you overstepped some bounds, just be humble and apologize.

Quick adds to that holiday wish list: a flannel pajama set, votive candles, and an Incausa Bath & Meditate Set. This week, your domestic doyenne takes the wheel as structure-hound Saturn decamps to Capricorn and your fourth house of home and family until December 17, 2020. During this cosmic cycle, you could move to a new city to pursue your professional path or to live closer to family. How's that nest egg of yours? With security becoming more important now, you could get serious about saving up for the future — or maybe to buy your starter apartment. Working with powerful women could make you richer over the coming three years, as could a home-based biz.

Scorpio
October 23 to November 21

While most people are utterly unfocused while in the office, don't lift your nose too far from the grindstone. News of a plum job or dream assignment could arrive near Monday’s new moon in Sagittarius. Looking for a professional upgrade? Whether it’s a promotion or a paycheck from a different company, put the word out to your social network. Friends may know just the position for you. Or, schedule a sit-down with corporate to discuss next-level opportunities at your current 9-5 gig. Because this is a new moon, you have six months to manifest its gifts. But what can you do to plant seeds now? It's not too late to squeeze in one more impressive achievement before the year wraps — especially on Friday, when Mercury snaps out of a three-week retrograde and puts you back on the high-earner's track.

More good news for your wallet comes this Tuesday! Taskmaster Saturn leaves your financial zone where it’s been putting you on an extreme budget for the past three years. Now, a lighter cosmic phase emerges. Until December 17, 2020, Saturn will tour Capricorn and your social, cooperative third house. Partnerships of the platonic variety — think BFFs and creative collaborators — will emerge as the new path to prosperity and personal fulfillment. Nothing happens overnight with Saturn in the frame, but start interviewing candidates to play the role of your other half. Working in a dynamic duo will provide your greatest joys — and your biggest struggles — as you learn new ways to share the glory. Got an idea for an ebook, a podcast, or even a TEDx Talk? Writing and media projects are favored by Saturn in the third house. You could even develop a workshop to teach people a skill you’ve mastered.
