'Tis The Season To Smell Like Booze — In A Good Way

Before bourbon, my drink order came with the one-track mind of a 75-year-old man who's lived in the same small town since birth and starts sentences with, "When I was your age..." Translation? I wouldn't try a damn thing unless it was red, full-bodied, and Californian. Only until recently when I was introduced to the libation did I see the (rose-colored) light.

Now, I know there are plenty of occasions in which bourbon's dark, warm, sensual vibe is exactly what I need: when cuffing season isn't going so hot, after a long day at work, to make holiday dinners more bearable, or any time you want to impress your misogynistic uncle who thinks whiskey is just for dudes. But if you want to save the hangover, the alternative also comes in beauty product from.

Ahead, the boozy fragrances, candles, shampoo, and more that you'll be lining up to buy — provided you can get past the doorman, that is.

Like a shot of whiskey, this candle comes with a punch. Some people at the office called the initial hit of orange too strong, but I think the flickers of creamy wood notes make it just right.

Bath & Body Works Orange Bitters & Bourbon Scented Candle, $14.50, available at Bath & Body Works.
The scent of this dry shampoo has all the characteristics I like in my adult beverage: vanilla, oak, and spices. And it doesn't just sop up third-day oil that's accumulated on my scalp, it also leaves my hair with a gritty, lived-in finish that looks very Mary-Kate Olsen. One spritz, and I'm a woman who smells like she's been throwing back Manhattans and looks like a fashion icon. Win-win.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon Dry Shampoo, $28, available at Sephora.
Never did I think a shaving cream could possibly smell like pure sex until now: This one is subtle, musky, and lingers on the skin. Which is exactly what every person is looking for when it comes to their underarms, no?

The Art Of Shaving Kingsman: The Golden Circle Bourbon Shave Collection Shaving Cream, $32, available at The Art Of Shaving.
Bourbon might not be a listed fragrance note, but if there was ever an elixir that embodies the essence of what the drink stands for, it's this. It's dark, smoky, and holds a 99% likelihood of instantly transporting you to a speakeasy in the '20s.

Maison Martin Margiela Replica Jazz Club Fragrance, $126, available at Sephora.
Ever leaned in for a hug only to find yourself intoxicated with the smell of that person's hair? That is practically Herbal Essence's M.O. with its shampoos — only with this formula, instead of getting a whiff of flower fields and the ocean breeze, it's warm, slightly sweet booze.

Herbal Essences Bourbon Manuka Honey Shampoo, $5.99, available at drugstores January 2018.
When you want your home to smell like an old fashioned — spicy and rich, with subtle hints of mandarin — without actually breaking a bottle on the kitchen floor.

Antica Farmacista Vanilla, Bourbon & Mandarin Home Ambiance Fragrance, $66, available at Bergdorf Goodman.
