Kylie Jenner's Full Beauty Evolution

Whether you love her, hate her, love to hate her, or all of the above, there's no denying that Kylie Jenner's had one of the most interesting and talked-about celebrity beauty transformations over the years. And she's only 18.

From her early Keeping Up with the Kardashians days in 2007 until now, Kylie has evolved from an adorable, freckled little girl to a heavily contoured, extension-wearing young adult right before our eyes. The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan loves to experiment with bold hair and makeup — even more so than her older sisters. She's become a beauty icon in her own right with a skin-care contract, line of hair extensions, and a beauty blog in the works.

In honor of Kylie's 18th birthday, we're looking back at her ever-changing hair and makeup. There's no doubt she will continue to keep us on our toes for many more years to come.

Kylie stepped onto the scene (and into the spotlight) as a 12-year-old with jet-black hair, heavy bangs, and freckles.

Seemingly bypassing the awkward stage most middle schoolers go through, Jenner sported black eyeliner, glossy lips, and pinned-back bangs, all of which gave her a slightly more mature look.

Kylie discovered blush in a big way, and this half-braided hairstyle highlighted her newly rouged cheeks.

September 2011
The youngest Jenner started experimenting with hair color early. Her long, pink highlights were very Avril Lavigne-esque, and make us wonder if she had a sk8er boi of her own.

To this day, it’s very rare to see Kylie with her hair in an updo; the entire Kardashian-Jenner bunch is all about the blowouts and long, luscious locks. But this throwback makes us wonder if they’ll ever rethink that look. Kylie’s side-swept ponytail is elegant and romantic, while her kohl-rimmed eyes give the perfect touch of edge.

And we're back to the long hair, worn down. The middle part and straight locks are giving us serious Kim K (pre-Kanye) vibes.

July 2012
Kylie traded in her bone-straight strands for a curling iron and some beachy waves. Her, now signature, black eyeliner really makes her amber eyes pop.

March 2013
This is definitely the year Kylie started to come into her own. She branched out with her makeup (red lips!) and adopted a personal style.

The bold lips live on — this time in a bright-fuchsia shade. She paired them with some major mascara and started the beginning of a long relationship with the black cat-eye.

November 2013
Briefly going over to the dark side, Kylie looked sophisticated with a sultry, oxblood pout. Her ombré hair and bold brows made this one of our favorite red carpet looks to date.

We told you this was the year of big beauty changes for the teen. Just a couple weeks later, she tried out brow-grazing bangs at the American Music Awards. We can’t say we’re mad at them.

January 2014
Short hair, don’t care — Kylie chopped off her Kardashian-Jenner strands for a just-below-the-shoulder lob. The cat-eye remained, but she switched to a more minimal makeup look overall.

May 2014
Hellooo to turquoise hair, contour galore, and a freshly plumped pout. This was a turning point for KyJen (and probably around the time she started sharing makeup artists with her older sisters). Both her hair and makeup scream "look at me" and, we've gotta say, all eyes definitely turned (and stayed) on her.

August 2014
Kylie went back to black for a hot second, while rocking a lipstick shade every '90s girl would kill for.

At the following year's AMAs, Kylie swapped out her standard, beigey-pink lipstick for a dress-matching burgundy shade. We got the lowdown on this beauty look (spoiler: it included an entire box of lashes). Although we can't say this with 100% certainty, we're pretty sure this is when the lip-plumping rumors started swirling.

Kylie returned to the turquoise hair, this time opting for long extensions. She topped things off with her go-to nude lip.

Kylie's matte lipstick and sleek-straight hair (now a staple look) were front-and-center at NYFW last season.

March 2015
To celebrate her new partnership with an anti-aging line (at 17), Kylie went for grown-up red lips, full lashes, and contoured — yes, contoured — cleavage.

May 2015
Ms. Jenner pretty much had her beauty look down at this point: plump, nude lips; bronzey eyes and skin; and full lashes. Her hair, on the other hand, continued to change.

July 2015
Kylie upped the glam factor with a slightly curled lob and some next-level contouring. This was the moment when we started to see where those Kim K comparisons came from...

Another week, another hair color. At press time, Kylie had swapped out this cotton-candy wig for a honey-blonde one, and then was back to brunette minutes later. She could be contemplating her next hair change as we speak. If we've learned anything about her over the years, it's that she's the queen of experimentation. At this rate, her family's going to have to start keeping up with her.
