Amazon Wants To Change The Way We Shop For Groceries

We didn’t think it was possible for Amazon to make our lives any easier. But, it seems the Seattle-based retail giant is aiming to do just that with a new concept store, that may change the way we shop for groceries forever.

According to San Francisco Business Times, the company is plotting to build an 11,000-square-foot facility complete with a drive-thru window in Silicon Valley. Customers can place their order online, and then swing through and pick up produce and other groceries items, without stepping foot in a store.

Currently, Amazon has its AmazonFresh initiative that delivers online-ordered items directly to customer’s homes. However, the concept shop will solve the problem of goods perishing on a doorstep.

While Amazon was not officially named in the planning documents, real-estate sources, who are familiar with the concept shop, confirmed to San Francisco Business Times that Amazon will indeed occupy the space. And, they noted the Sunnyvale location will be the first among many to spring up in Silicon Valley (and hopefully beyond).

The news is hot on the heels of another cult-followed brand opening up its first-ever drive-thru in the Bay Area. Last month, Amy’s Kitchen announced it would open a drive-thru window in wine country this summer.

Groceries on the go? Okay, who can argue with that?
