Flora, Fauna, & Skeletons; Alexander McQueen Takes On Miami

McQueen
Get ready to...Take. A. Deep. Breath. Finally, legendary fashion house Alexander McQueen has opened a store in our very own backyard. At just 212-square-meters — which seems tiny compared to Forever 21’s new mega store — the luxe boutique opened last week to coincide with the launch of a new store concept, set to spread globally to all McQueen locations. The idea revolves around McQueen's aesthetic as a point of view, says architect and interior designer David Collins, of David Collins studio, a collaborator on the new Miami spot. In addition, Collins tells us to expect themes of "eroticism and sexuality." (Oh my!).

Emulating Miami's seashore, other inspirations include flora, fauna, and the coral reef. McQueen’s signature razor-sharp cutting technique is seen floor-to-ceiling in the shop’s adornment, from broken glass partitions to smashed marble floors. It all adds up to a refreshing import of super luxury, a nice change from the habitual Miami heat — the haute hangout is unlike any current boutique in the area. And, if we know anything about the McQueen brand, the space is bound to be an art form to rival anything Wynwood's creatives could throw at us. Did we mention sexy and erotic?
